Tomorrow at MSG. This always feels the the opening to the season to me as there’s always tons of content. Plus this year so many changes around the league.
sha is so refreshing
Whitmore is a big loss for Villanova. They drop below Xavier now.We will finish 4th after Creighton,Nova and Uconn.Although Nova looks to be injury prone and if Sanogo get injured Uconn is in trouble.
Plus the timing of Moore's return is questionable.Starting a freshman at PG in BE is not a recipe for success.Whitmore is a big loss for Villanova. They drop below Xavier now.
I hate injuries to college players. So Sanogo will be there. But I do question UCONN’s guard play, specially at the point. We will finish 4th after Creighton,Nova and Uconn.Although Nova looks to be injury prone and if Sanogo get injured Uconn is in trouble.
Nova in the last 5 minutes doesn't turn the ball over, takes good shots, doesn't allow second chance points, etc. We can't assume the same choices will happen without Jay.you can give it tons of credit and you would still be underestimating the Jay Wright impact at the end of games. How many times did they beat us in the last 5 minutes. How many times did that push off get unnoticed. Will Neptune get that respect?
That as much as anything said here is (W)right on the button. Wright got most every 50/50 whistle. Hell he got his share of 40/60 whistles as well and in a close game that makes all the difference.you can give it tons of credit and you would still be underestimating the Jay Wright impact at the end of games. remember the time he argued his technical call away during our game? absurdThat as much as anything said here is (W)right on the button. Wright got most every 50/50 whistle. Hell he got his share of 40/60 whistles as well and in a close game that makes all the difference.
There is no way that Neptune will command the respect that Wright did.
You aren’t wrong about guard play being a question. If you look at Newton‘s numbers he was pretty good. From what I’m hearing so far Hassan Diarra has been better than expected. Still, Connecticut will likely rely on Andre Jackson in kind of a “point forward“ role. I’ve never been a fan of the whole “center by committee“ approach, so the notion of “point guard by committee“ is a little scary. Still, I do like the athleticism on this team in the ability to score. I will feel better after we have a few games under our belt, so I have a better understanding of the new roles.I hate injuries to college players. So Sanogo will be there. I remember being irate about that at the game, but wasnt there a semi reasonable explanation? And I think we won that one?remember the time he argued his technical call away during our game? absurd
Jackson is a freak athlete for sure, but a concern I would have is a player with some offensive limitations like him having the ball in that role so much. Granted this is assuming he hasn’t made a leap in those areas. You aren’t wrong about guard play being a question. If you look at Newton‘s numbers he was pretty good. If I recall correctly it had something to do with a delay of game but it was rescinded because we weren't ready to play at that time either. Something like we needed to be on the foul line but had gone to our bench or something like that.I remember being irate about that at the game, but wasnt there a semi reasonable explanation? Very cool seeing Jay at a Phillies game in a uni shirt in a box seat with all the other fans. It is nice to see him retire cause I hate liking everything I hear about opposing coaches...lol
I think you will see a slow start (6-4 or 7-3) until Whitmore comes back. If team is fully healthy by EOY (including Moore)...they have the pieces to make a deep run.I could see Nova taking its lumps at times this year. I just don’t think it’ll be so turnkey.
