Yep, watching them discuss it on FS1 now. How long until the NCAA tournament is cancelled? That's the next big domino to fall.
As bad as we feel, imagine what the players feel like.
I can't imagine being a senior and having your career end like this.
This messes up our American way of life to CANCEL, if you postpone it fine, dont end it.....
What amazing ineptitude to even let them go to the arena, much less start playing.
Hoping they postpone the tournament until May for now until they can learn more about where the country is health wise. In the end they could cancel it but postponing it for now seems like the right thing to do. Very sad for the players and coaches and fans but public health is most important.

Well, society is basically stopped. Markets plummeting. Now we sit and wait to see if we live, I guess?
to be honest that’s why I’m crushed. I feel for the players.
I hope they can do some sort of abbreviated tournament later on. I think the answer for this, down the road when the dust settles is to go back in time, specifically to the 1970s. For those that say "Just do the top 16 teams", what about the small auto-bid leagues that already finished their tournaments? Do a scaled back event, at campus sites, with restricted family only crowds, with the conference champs (including ties so we're in it), and no at-large teams. Make it a truly regional tournament (east teams in east, west in the west, etc) to minimize travel. It's crushing for everybody involved and I really feel for the players, but if some of them really are concerned for their own safety and scared to play as it's now sounding like some of them are, then I understand why. I just hope they can salvage something later on and it's not an outright cancellation of everything. Everybody go home, wash your hands, and hope for the best I guess.
This I have a big problem with. Include the ties just like the regular season. There should be no tournament champion banners handed out at all. ACC is doing same to Florida State I heard. There is no conference tournament, vacated. Since there's no conference tournaments to break ties, included the tied teams in whatever future tournament if there is one. All three of us, and the three Big Ten teams too. So crushing for it all to end like this for these players. Myles probably would have passed Nick the Quick for 2nd place in tonight's game too...

this has blown up even faster than I thought it would and i thought it would blow up real fast. outside it seems like business as usual but under the surface it almost seems like weve hit complete lock down.

The Big East has canceled the remainder of its tournament, after St. John’s and Creighton played one half of their quarterfinal, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The league came to a decision after a conference call with athletic directors and presidents representing the conference’s 10 schools.
With just a few hundred people in the crowd, and all the other power conferences already canceling their tournaments, the Big East awkwardly went on.
But with the Red Storm ahead 38-35 at the break, the call was finally made to call off the final three days. On Wednesday, the NCAA Tournament announced it would be banning fans from attending games. In the evening, the NBA suspended its season. Shortly thereafter, the Big East announced it would be restricting fan attendance. And then Thursday, several other leagues followed suit, shortly before their quarterfinal rounds were set to begin.
Now, the NCAA is on the clock, to see if it still plans to play its tournament, cancel it or postpone it.

What draft... everything will be pushed back by this ridiculous case of the sniffles. Never seen anything more overhyped. You realize, media has mentioned Coronavirus over 50,000 times in the past month while Ebola was mentioned only 1700 times at the time.
Swine flu accounted for over 12k deaths an no media hype. This is 1000% political.
Tell that to Italy and South Korea. Countries dont get shut down because of the sniffles.

They started the game and played an entire half. If anything was going to happen it would have happened already. Why cancel the second half. I thought the Big East had balls to go with the tournament, but it looks like Political Correctness took over. What a damn shame!!!

On First Take they said that the NBA would likely restart towards the beginning of the summer and not start the regular season until December. They could play the tournament in May because the draft would likely not take place until the fall
the draft is 1000% going to get moved back. The NBA season will be going on later than usual.
I think the major issue here is nobody really knows where this goes. I don't think anyone can definitively say this isn't a big deal. We all hope it is a huge over-reaction in hindsight, but it is the unknown that is causing such panic (yes and the media coverage of it).
To me, the "game changed" when Tom Hanks announced he had it as well as The NBA suspending indefinitely. I think we will look back on those instances as the game changers.
Imagine thinking the NBA and NCAA are leaving billions of dollars on the table for political reasons.
unfortunately it seems like we have to go full stop now to even have a chance to postpone. one more week might be too late. who knows.
