Big East Expansion

I read the same stuff you did. The B1G wanted both Maryland and Rutgers. It was both or none.

The BE os the best none P5 conference out there, that can easily change if it is slow to the change.

I still think that the distance is too far but this is an interesting take ...

Not at all, if you just invite them then yes, but inviting 3 others like St. Mary's, Loyola MM, USan Diego,Santa Clara, USF, do a 2 game road trip with 2 two teams from the same divisions crossing. makes it a lot more feasible.
The future is 16 to survive.

Wouldn’t that water down the conference, both on the court and financially?
If you were to do it by division it's not that hard really 4 or 5 teams in each division. Again each division round robins within, then rotating round-robin with another division, finally 1 game each in the remaining divisions. That's a total of either 22 or 29 conference games depending on if they go 4 or 5 team divisions.
The sell to recruits we play an NBA-like schedule across the nation. Longer distance travel could be done in tandem, two teams from the same division travel together as feasibly as possible.
Get rid of cupcakes except for local teams like in Philly fab 5 and conference challenges rotating conferences

That’s insane.

You’ve been pushing the whole pod thing for years, but why?

Big East doesn’t have to worry about the football issues, and no matter what the Big East would do, it’s all meaningless to the football playing schools. They only care about themselves, and quite honestly, that’s fine. Otherwise, none of your national pods or 22 or 29 (????) game conference schedules make the slightest bit of sense.

29 games is the NCAA regular season maximum. You've eliminated your non-conference schedule.

This does nothing for the BE but add a tremendous travel burden, along with associated costs, to each school without a corresponding uptick in revenue to offset.

If you want an example of feasibility, go to Storrs and ask the folks at UConn how the AAC worked for them.

Dear God, no! If we were ever forced to go to 16 (God forbid) then do two 8 team divisions. We play our division home and home and the other division only when we absolutely have to because we thought we needed to add schools that have no business being in the Big East and it would give our west coast alumni a chance to catch a game. Olympic sports can play the west coast teams in conference championships.
