Reality setting in as each day goes by without a signing while others are building their rosters

Nothing to indicate that we will fill a competitive roster

I would think that after this year Sha could leave if an offer is presented. No reason to think that the university and leadership is going to change

I could also see a big east / ACC merger with some schools on the outside! That would be us and a move to A10 would be likely

Sad times

Hopefully we keep Felt cause he's a good guy and has done wonders for the only program that matters to most Alums. Without basketball I really don't have a connection to the school.

That’s a pretty sad take. You spend four years of your formative of years and that’s your Takeaway?

is it sad? thats how most alumni think. wake up. its a commuter school and the ones who didn't commute have a worse opinion of the school.

if you didn't have a bleak out look for SHU the second NIL was floated out there then you're just as behind as the school.

Wrong. 50% of students live in campus. When’s the last time you paid a visit?

Call me crazy, but I value what I learned from the faculty and the relationships that I made at the school, many of which I’ve stayed in contact with the years, both personally and professionally. Basketball? Yeah it was cool but only a small part.

Got my friends from school but besides Basketball I don't have much of serious connection to the Hall. My nephew is currently at the school because he's been a lifelong fan.

of course, but im assuming you'd value that anywhere you went. and in fact, most of the alumni don't value those things during their time at seton hall based on the giving rate. so while good for you , its not translating to the average alumni.

My four years at the Hall were among the best of my life. A young 17 year old coming from CT, i learned to grow up in South Orange. I made great friends, played rugby and broadcast games on WSOU and wrote sports for the Setonian. I wouldn't trade the years for anything. My courses in communications and marketing helped propel me to a great career in the advertising agency world. I owe much to my Setonia experience. Yes, hoops is the connection that endures today, but the foundation built at Seton Hall is what matters.

Yeah, 40 years ago before college became a money making scam. Where relationships were valued. Now it’s here’s your syllabus and test. Bring in the next bunch.

Where would Holloway go?

Have any other schools opted to move to a lesser Div 1 conference? Sadly, most drop the sport or move all the way to Div. 3 "to focus on academics."

If it was that bad why didn’t you transfer?

I am sure coaches get their name out that they would be open to a move! Tough when team sucks but coaches move all the time
I can see the press release announcing Holloway's hiring at St. Francis now.

"Holloway, who won a NIT Championship at Seton Hall in 2024, finished his four-year tenure there with a 56-78 record."

That ought to excite the fan base.

Shaheen has been among the worst coaches in college basketball for the last year. No one wants to play for him- he is continuing to live off an elite 8 appearance from years ago... He has no offensive scheme and his defensive philosophy seems to amount to try harder than the other team. I don't think anyone is going to be hiring him anytime soon.

Any prospect with pro ambitions likely doesn’t have Seton Hall on his list as there is nothing positive that would make us attractive to that caliber of player. That’s the harsh reality of where we are at this point in time. If anyone has information that’s positive sharing it now would be a plus.

Nah if we had money it wouldn’t matter

Last year scarred us, rightfully so. But until I see the roster spots filled I won't judge this team yet. Do I wish more players would be signed by now? Sure, but when you have the worst season in your program's history this is to be expected. I do like the few guys we did bring in thus far however. I'm not as down on them as others

I have to believe at this point we exhausted our actual NIL budget with the 5 players currently on the roster. My educated guess is that we had $500k-1m and now we are waiting for the handout of revenue sharing from the judge.

Unless we get people for free I wouldn’t expect any signings.

50%? thats commuter lmao
I believe the stat is that 90% of freshmen live on campus. Some of those students eventually move home, but the majority continue to live on campus or move off campus.

Mostly all students are forced off campus by junior year due to housing shortage/strict rules.

My entire fraternity was filled with kids from Connecticut, Ohio, Massachusetts, New York, etc. Everyone was considered a “commuter”.

The official number may be 50% commuters but that’s extremely misleading. The real number might be around 20% or less.

i think theres a large population that lives at home compared to other universities. i was basing 50% on what the other poster said.

In the mid 80's, prior to opening the three newest dorms, there was a legitimate 80-20 split in favor of commuters. Adding space for a couple of thousand residents naturally evened out those percentages.

Would he / might he opt to leave a sinking ship to become an assistant at a major school? Other than Brian Mahoney (Manhattan to St. John's) and Dave Leitao (Northeastern back to UCONN), I can't think of others. Don't see this in Holloway's persona, but if options are limited.......

absolutely, but my point is that I don’t consider the kid from California that has an off campus apartment a commuter.

In my mind a commuter was someone who lived at home with their parents.
