The republican's couldn't even get a bill through the house last year and they were not willing to move on supporting a path to citizenship.
There are some republicans that would support it, but the party does not.

If you make the fine "massive" as you have said before then it would accomplish something.

Massive penalty for those who employ them (and I only support that after amnesty for those here now)
Adding a penalty for undocumented immigrants here now is just punitive and wouldn't serve any other purpose.

Of course not. Its possible to differntiate employers with effective screening vs those who knowingly look the otger way.

If they get fooled, fine... But if you dont put the right disincentives in place, employers will continue to hire the cheap labor and there will be demand for more of it. Cutoff the demand and coming here no longer seems like a good option.
