Bozzella EXPLODES!

Artie not only do I have to disagree with your view on but I also think it's unfair to even suggest that because you're a transfer a player has "quit" one situation. There are three pools of talent that coaches draw from, I.e. High School, Junior College and the fastest growing one, transfers.

Would that player be justified in transferring from a team coached by , for example,by either of two former RU coaches whose conduct got them fired or from a former Indiana coach who threw chairs on the court during a game and many more I could name. When an employee leaves for another job that he or she feels is a better situation should they be tainted because they wanted a change.

It's not the pool of talent that a player comes from its the character, integrity and persona of that player that determines whether that player is team oriented, good in the locker room , works hard and does what the coaches ask of them. No matter which pool that player comes from and no matter how deligent a coach is you'll sometimes have to conclude that some players never get with the program .

A healthy program recruits most of their kids from HS, especially in an area like the tri-state which is fertile with talent. Juco's and Transfers are good short term fixes, but a stable program is built through HS recruiting.

I also said most transfers have quit a situation, which is the reality. I know kids get home sick or over recruited but the truth is, they picked somewhere and left because they were unhappy/couldn't make it work. Do you want a Bob Huggins/Gonzo style of program?

For me to fully believe that Coach Tony has the program going strong long term, I'd like to see us land some star HS recruits. I don't think that is a big ask.

Again. The transfers aren't the problem.

And without these transfers we would not have 2 seasons of 20+ wins with a 3rd one potentially this season.

It's okay if you want to continue your narrative though.

Artie I agree that adding that star HS athlete is always the preferred way to go but getting your program to that point isn't accomplished overnight and the goal for any program is to add talent and if the way you can do that successfully is by taking a transfer you do so. I believe Tony is getting us there as the incoming 2016 class are all freshman. The next step in the evolution of Tony's recruiting will be when he starts signing the elite or star " Bigs

As to what type of BB program I want at SH , both men and women's is very simple , one that consistently wins and gets to the tourney regularly with a coach who does it right.

Just look at the difference DG has made with the men's program and the leadership he's brought with him.

I would say Kena and Aleesha are not the leaders that DG are. They both defer to others on the team it seems.

I thought we had 2 leaders on our team from last years NCAA team. They had/have the potential to be team leaders. Keyword is potential.

Pat and I are seeing exactly the same way where the leadership deficit is.
  • Just because you are the PG or co-PG does not make you a real leader of the team
  • Just because you are a transfer does not rule out your ability to be a real leader of the team (Derrick Gordon and Daisha Simmons are beautiful examples of this)
Last year, Didi (all-year-all-world player) and Daisha (one year transfer) were the real leaders of the WBB team, willing all the others by example to aim as high as possible.

This year, the center of leadership really was on Tabitha. I think that Aleesha aligned strongly with Tony and with Kena, and Kena has tried to give her all, but I think that with both Aleesha and Kena being one-year co-PG, the basis for "veteran leadership" really rested on Tab. And Tab does not seem to have that kind of leadership in her (at this time).

Leaders pull the others forward unwaveringly. Followers see how it goes. Talented followers do their own thing. Resisters don't care.

For me, that's it in a nutshell.

If they all aligned on a pass-first, we're dancing style of play on exhibit in the first three months, they are well-seeded in the NCAA tournament. Right now, they've put together a solid stretch of "no post-season in view" - period - full stop.

Tony is trying to motivate his veterans. Watch the rhetoric change when they make the effort and turn the corner.

Got to the game about 40 minutes early. Wanted to watch early warm ups.

Kena doesn't seem to be dressed...

The players spirits look high; good body language, a lot of smiling and talking during early warm ups.

Hall leads 30-22 at the half over Villanova. They really can't afford to lose this one. Creating separate thread
for the game.

Only real transfer is Kena. She came over the summer... Aleesha was here for 2 summers and a sit out year... Same with next years Jackson. She's been here for a summer and sit out year.

Pat you are right! Add Jordan Mosley to the list. She has been here 3 summers..played 2 years and a sit out 1 year.

Jordan Molyneax is a red shirt freshman.
