Either Shaheen is a flat out bad situational coach or DAW didn’t do what he was supposed to. Have to assume it was a busted play, but still would have been better off having DAW Off the ball.

Just a season of frustration. 3 for 24 from 3? Come on.

Watch this a few times. This is unexplainable.

Coleman stands at the 3pt line and can’t get free.

Ehrierine stands with his back to the ball doing absolutely nothing!!

Jenkins stands in the far corner completely unreachable and doesn’t move.

Middleton sprints up court and does nothing

Not a single screen was attempted.

The play was to get it to Coleman no other option except we drew up a play like Georgetown was going to stay in the huddle and not come out and defend us.

“Isaiah get open and go one on one”

Even a stupid coach would know to deny Coleman the ball in that situation. Should have just had him get the inbound ball and kept the ball in his hands from the beginning. Game was lost with the continued terrible shooting the team continues to show.

He does coach this situations as if the kids have his ability to go one on one…. If the play was to get the ball to Coleman.. run him off a double screen .. not a dribble hand off

These guys and most players today need to sit down and watch tape after tape of Reggie Miller.

You need to learn to get open without the ball, not just stand around hoping for a defensive breakdown. Always move and keep the pressure on the defense.

The reason nobody else moved is they were clearing space for Coleman to get a pass and curl around Erheriene, I think. Probably designed to be a handoff to pull the two defenders into conflict then Godswill second.

You leave Middleton and Jenkins wide so the lane is open.

We should’ve called timeout.

Fanta’s call is great. Just jeeps repeating his name.

We've seen this before.A very limited offense team and a coach who has not shown creativity in dialing up end of game situation most recently RU and GT.

We had a timeout!!!
Timeout should have been called. No way you don't get the ball to Coleman or Jenkins, the best shooters on the floor and best foul shooters.

Some coaches prefer to not call a TO as to not let the defense set. Not in today's NIL and transfer landscape. The players are mercenaries and have no cohesion for the most part. Need to reset in these late game situations and get everyone on the same page.

how much time would be left if they called timeout ? then you gotta inbound again

A few things stand out to me.

There was a review on Georgetown's last possession with the shot clock violation. I presume Sha was setting something up during that break but when they came back out, nobody knew what we were running, which is why Sha called the timeout. It's not surprising whatever we tried to run broke down.

Coleman can't be asked to bring the ball up the floor in that spot. He's not a ball handler so that's one more player out of position. What we are seeing is a direct consequence of not having a competent point guard. DAW isn't it, Dual could be although it's more difficult when you don't play. Felton showed well tonight but had no assists in 14 minutes.

We shot under 30%. Even Coleman was just 8-20 (take him out and we were 12-47 or just over 25%). We weren't making the last shot even if we got it off. Maybe make some shots over the first 39 minutes and we're not trying to make a do-or-die play.

Sadly our best chance at a game winner was to have Wusu (or anyone really) shoot as early as possible and have everyone else go for the offensive rebound.

And just for fun, lets remember we had one more TO to call when whatever was supposed to happen wasn't happening.

I am fearing that the word situational doesnt need to be in the first clause above. I hope I am ridiculously wrong. I said that about PJ in the early days.

Timeout with 3 sec on the clock so they setup their defense?
this is where this board is all pitchforks no matter what. nobody has answered me yet on how much time was left. it was nothing. youd put yourself in a worse situation.

what he should get blamed for is putting the ball in wusus hands. its clear the play was to coleman, but he was covered. he didnt do a good job of getting open nor did the play do a good job of getting him open.

but i fully expected wusu to F it up in spectacular fashion and he did. i guess the coach thought he was the best option to bring the ball up as a 5th year senior.

Coleman was supposed to come get the ball from DAW with DAW setting the handoff screen.

the defense was good, because it was obvious who was going to get the ball. i suppose sha thought it was better to avoid getting coleman the ball off the inbound which would be highly covered.

neither player did a good job executing the play. defense was tight. but you also can't dribble the ball off your foot.

The plan looked like a handoff forcing Georgetown to switch or get tangled, then Godswill creating a high screen for a lane with likely a mismatch of Coleman driving on a center at best. Shooters on the corners to spread the floor. DAW should’ve put his head down and driven but he freaked.

I hope Sha reminded them they had a timeout.

its not exactly a high IQ group. hindsight says dont spend as much time focusing on a multi component play and save some time to talk about the fact it was a 1 point game and your team has been getting an insane amount of offensive rebounds. getting a shot up was the most important thing.

not sure i buy the timeout thing unless you wanted to rush past halfcourt and call one immediatly. other than that i think it was better to let it play out.

if i had a play i would have opened coleman up with an off ball screen and have him beat his man for a jumper. it was probably the only thing you can count on
