1. Wright - Win Wed and you're a lock

2. Mack - Win Wed and the award is up for grabs.

3. Willard - Win Thursday & Sunday along with a Nova loss and you're at the top.

4. McDermott - No one thought Watson would be this good but I still believe McDermott should be # 4 to date.

5. Cooley - Riding his two horses hard. But maybe too hard?

6. Hotlmann - Eye test shows they are playing much better than earlier in the league season.

7. Wojo - Same here. Young team gaining experience.

8. Thompson - Probably doing the worst job in the league vis-a-vis talent. But hard to put him below two coaches who have a combined total of 3 league wins.

9. Mullin. Playing better and playing hard. Can't ask for much more than that from a talent depleted roster.

10. Leitao - Team looks like its packed it in.

I think Chris Mack wins the award. Jay has done a great job navigating the Big East, as usual, but Xaiver has been the bigger surprise nationally. I don't think they were on anyone radar as being a team that would play a lot of the year in the top 10.

Worst coach of the year award - Thompson III. How the heck is that team so bad? Probably the most talented roster in the league.

If it ended today it's Wright and no one else.

Mack has to win Wed & Sun.

Willard doing a great job but w distant 3rd

If Nova finishes # 1 has to be Wright (who also curses out the refs like crazy by the way like Mullen did yesterday).

Yea I said Mack above, but hard to not give it to Wright if he beats X twice.

And good point above re: Wright. Honestly there are tons of coaches who do that - some of the most notable guys -- and we've had our share at various points (PJ, Gonzo, etc). Doesn't really bother me. Up to the refs to determine how much they will take and control the game.

1. Wright - Any other year and Mack is sitting here, but the Cats have that 2009 look again. Wow.

2. Mack - Then again, if this team went to the Final Four, that wouldn't surprise me. So good and balanced.

3. McDermott - A testament to the power of fundamental basketball, with a terrific PG at the wheel.

4. Cooley - Has really done it this year with two studs. They're cooling off, but let's not put pennies on their eyes yet. Terrific coach. Where would others be with this team?

5. Willard - Saw that deer-in-the-headlights look return late in the St. John's game, which was scary. I'll let history separate him and Cooley for the purpose of this poll.

6. Holtmann - Butler scares me as much as anyone in this league in the BET. I might rather play Villanova.

7. Wojo - Up and down on this guy, but his team features key freshmen, and they are still dangerous.

8. Thompson - harder and harder to defend this job. They haven't given up, and can still beat almost anyone ... but just don't.

9. Mullin - I've been impressed by the way they've gotten after it, and finally earned a win ... and almost two. Whew...

10. Leitao - Flip the calendar.
