Can you say for sure he's got the money to spend? I mean, for certain? If he does, then he is screwing this up royally. Like, in such a way that it's hard to imagine. So much so that it almost seems impossible to believe.

Probably has the same ego as every head coach. It’s obvious any money we have is tied to revenue sharing which means we have no money (or nowhere near the number thrown around on here).
I am not on the negativity police force, but why would someone want to come to Seton Hall other than a player from a low mid major?

Same reason people are transferring out of good situations at Duke or Purdue, CASH! Why are they heading to St. John's? Minus Repole, its basically the same school.
I think the plan is to wait it out and grab players who are getting rejected for the amount they want for the talent they bring and grab them off the scrap heap on the cheap.

Playing for a HOF coach is a huge draw. The sold out Garden for all of the February and March games NYC market were big draws too.

I fear his ego is saying to the players basically you don’t tell me how much you want, I’ll tell you what I’ll give… that is really part of the issue here..
I wouldn't be surprised.
Year 1 it was "I don't want to give you any money at all and you're lucky to get what is offered".
Year 2 it was "You're not getting paid more than my assistant coaches do".
So if Year 3 is "You'll take what I say or you can go somewhere else" then it wouldn't be a shock.
No one knows what these offers are.

If all else is equal, yes, the HOF coach is a factor.
But, AJ Storr is leaving a 2 time natty winning coach for CASH. Kids are leaving UConn and 2X Natty winning coach for CASH. Everything else is side dishes.
SHU offers more money, people are coming to SO.

They under Father Shanley like St. John’s under Mike Cragg were on top of NIL from the minute it was allowed in 2020.

To play for a HOF coach and then had subpar year at Kansas and was recruited over and told to look elsewhere. All college players are now on 1 year contracts that are reviewed at end of each year.

Providence is not killing it in the portal. They got 2 good players, 1 decent player, and 2 mids.
Kid was at 4 or 5 high schools in 4 or 5 years. Now will be 4 colleges in 4 years. If there was ever a poster boy for this era, it is him.
Also a poster boy for why a team that kills it in the portal on paper can still have a rough season. Kansas has a great coach and is a top 5 program that does nothing but win. Preseason #1 last year and end up a 7 seed. Granted they lost to an Arkansas team that was no ordinary 10 seed, huge talent and NIL that had to battle injuries and took longer to gel, but ultimately beats the 2 seed in SJU and has Texas Tech beat in the Sweet 16 if not for a massive collapse.
I read that they got 5 former 4 star players out of high school. But if not I stand corrected.
I’m just thankful we have glory days here to jump on this thread and tell us all about St. John’s . I guess every other thread is just gonna evolve into a Red Storm Pissing match

Money talks, but again we have to drastically overpay players for them to come here. I said it in another thread but we have a coach who is difficult to play for and has no offensive strategy that makes kids look good. That grind it out style doesn’t make players look great and won’t help future earning potential.
Also all of our transfers were terrible last year so all an opposing coach needs to say is look how disastrous this way for these players last year

Tray Jackson was 4 star and so was Middleton. I would also assume Dual was 4 star
BTW - Can we recruit the guy that started the PJ firing letter, and have him change the header and replace with Felt.
We are in a shit show for one reason or multiple reasons, neither we will be able to get out of with changes all over and $$$$$
