Despite a Kelsey Carr home run providing an early lead, the Pirates lost in extra innings to Wisconsin to close out The Hall's trip to the FGCU Invitational.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Despite a Kelsey Carr home run providing an early lead, the Pirates (3-6) lost in extra innings to Wisconsin, 3-2, to close out The Hall's trip to the FGCU Invitational.
How it Happened
In the opening innings of the Pirates' final game of the weekend, the two sides struggled to find their footing behind the plate. Across the first three innings, Andrea Perez was the only player on either team to record a hit. The Pirates did have a chance in the second to snatch a run after a hit by pitch and walk, alongside Perez's single, gave The Hall two runners in scoring position with two outs. Neither runner managed to score, however, and the Pirates continued to search for the opening blow.
When the fourth inning arrived, the Pirates finally found that breakthrough moment. Kelsey Carr, after allowing one baserunner in three innings, stepped to the plate to lead off the inning. Down 0-2 in the count, Carr mashed the fourth pitch of the at-bat over the left field wall to give The Hall an early 1-0 lead. Right after, Olivia Gilbert singled and the Pirates were looking to collect more runs. With Angelina Benitez stepping in as a pinch runner, the Pirates went up 2-0 after a single from Erin Howard scored Benitez with one out. The Hall's lead would not stick for long, however, as a lead-off double by the Badgers turned into a two-run home run in the bottom half of the frame. While Wisconsin did not add anymore runs, the Pirates headed to the fifth tied 2-2.
Seton hall had a chance to add more runs in the fifth after they loaded the bases with two outs. However, a fielder's choice to end the inning left the Pirates in search of a way to break the tie. For the Pirates, the game would eventually head into extra innings for the second time this weekend. After Taylor Hill couldn't score in the top of the eighth, Wisconsin scored in the bottom of the frame to give the Pirates a 3-2 defeat.
