Didn't watch much of it yet but hearing him talk about his childhood is crazy.
I knew Sheffield was his nephew but didnt know they lived in the same house. 2 HOF-level players growing up in the same house (3 year age gap) under some difficult circumstances.
His aunt's husband shot her 5 times when Doc was in the house at 8 years old. His Mom then tracked the guy down and shot him. His Mom later shot his Dad when Doc inadvertently told her about the Dad's cheating.
Doc's Dad had many faults but he taught 2 amazing ballplayers. Doc's mechanics and Curveball were among the best I've ever seen. And Sheffield's pure bat speed was breathtaking.
