First Loss of the season

A) woahhh im not trying to be "jcalz right on time with his classic holier than thou post."
B) Steve, no I have never seen a winning season.

The truth is i dread a rebuild here, im afraid with a rebuild we can really fall off, but what do i know.

Your last sentence - not unreasonable at all.

There is solid reason to dread it - it requires another five plus years (or so it seems) - an eternity to see a result. Well - unless the bucket of Pixie Dust is knocked over on top of the school.

However - sometimes the current situation causes so much pain, that hacking off the offending body part is willingly hoped for.

And the board is already off the rails.... Good year or bad year this board is tough to read.

JCalz, you nailed it. Believe me....after last season I was convinced it was time for a change. Was disappointed when it didnt happen....BUT it didnt happen...move on! If we are drawing up "short lists" pre Thanksgiving.....yikes, this Board will be unreadable for 4 months!

I get it...I do...no one is more frustrated then me....but doing this at this point in the season is pointless.....complete waste of time. Lets get into the BE season...if the season is a disaster, we will know by January; if simply "a bad season", by February. At either of those points, if you want to start the "short list" by all means.

But November 20th?

Would have been easier to rebuild with Whitehead, Delgado, Carrington, Sanogo, and Nzei on the team...now who knows what is going to happen next year. But we need a real coach. A real coach can rebuild in 2 years. A real coach doesn't take fairly decent players and not go to a post season for 6 years.

This is an odd position for me, because I'm typically one of the last the ever give up the ship on a coach. I approach it much like an AD would. I don't vacillate between support and non-support. I support the coach until I no longer do, and I reached that point last season during our annual January meltdown. So what happened? Nothing. Nothing, that is, except our best player ran screaming from this dysfunctional disaster of a program. So what would a sane person expect to see different this year?

I'm not going to be posting "Fire Kevin Willard!" all season. I've made my thoughts on that well know here. But with a new season, the dynamics of the replacement pool change too, and it's not too soon to start looking at that. Especially since it's perfectly clear that it will be relevant come March. Thus, I hope Pat Lyons is doing his homework. That was my point.

It's time to wake up to the fact that he is a horrible coach.

I appreciate the sentiment but the time to wake up to that was at least two years ago.

Anyone who thinks the board is over reacting after one loss doesn't get it. Most of us view this as a lost year before it even started because we know our coach is horrible. The only reason this loss doesn't burn me like so many others is because every day we are one day closer to firing this idiot.

No Crows, you don't get it. Pointless is playing the season with our current coach. Complete waste of time is thinking for a moment this season will be anything but a disaster.

Blowing up this board is our duty as SHU fans. Anything you can do to express your displeasure at administration for keeping this coach is the ONLY POINT to this season.

I find it impossible to not root for us to win. I can't help but turn the game on and root, root, root. But there's a part of me that wants to lose by 50 tonight and every night until the Willard nightmare is over.

No, I get it. I just dont feel the need to revel in the misery starting in November.....will be plenty of time for that.

I fully understand your point...and for Lyons..."yes" he darn well be drawing up a list (actually, a good AD always has a list....just in case....not to be caught off guard, formal or not) and preparing for that possibility. That is his job.

But for me....I will start to feel miserable after the BE starts....then I can start to rant. I dont have the energy to rant for 4 straight months... I feel like the horse is dead...stop beating it

The team got up early 11-6 after the Desi dunk and immediately went to sleep. LBST went on a 60-39 run from that point.

Really bad. Looked a lot like the Marquette game at the BET.

Gonna disagree with you on that one. That Marquette game wad the worst thing I can recall seeing, in 25 years of watching.

Not going to argue with you on that, LOL! That was a miserable experience at MSG.

FARKEL!

I had successfully scrubbed that memory from my mind. Five months of gin and tonics plus wine with dinner, good heavens. It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

:eek::p:D

That game deserved the same treatment as our game vs Texas Tech in the NIT. The only thing stopping fans from doing "Fire Willard" chants was that the game was so epically disastrous it left people speechless.

Here is what I am hoping, we have seen numerous years where a willard SHU team plays well up until the first couple weeks of the conference schedule. Then things get progressively worse and spiral out of control and things fall apart. Maybe this year we start of slow and actually improve going into the middle of big east play??? I have to have some hope here.
I was going to post the same thing. With Ish leading the team in rebounding through 4 games, I think our questionable front court has at least so far been answered. All off season people posted "who is going to help Delgado?" Look at the stats and Ish is having MUCH better start than anyone could have thought. These two along with MN will allow Desi to continue his better play at the 3.
