Stumbled on this while watching a documentary on Buffalo Bob Smith and Howdy Doody . I am aware that many reading this are thinking who the heck is Buffalo Bob . Early kids tv show .
They showed a listing for the first Buffalo Bob broadcast and below it was a listing for Seton Hall and Rutgers on Channel 5 . The date was December 27th, 1947 . Two years before I was born . BTW, Seton Hall won .

Not sure if it was the first SHU game or not, but have to figure it was definitely near the beginning.

First college basketball game was actually broadcast in 1940 when TV was still experimental, was game from MSG.

The first college basketball game on TV was Pitt vs. Fordham in 1940

The first televised college basketball game was played Feb. 28. 1940, when Pitt faced off against Fordham at Madison Square Garden on W2XBS, known today as WNBC.
