SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head coach Sara Doell announced the 2017 spring schedule for the Seton Hall women's golf team on Tuesday. The Pirates will participate in at least five tournaments this spring.

Seton Hall will open the spring season at the Rio Verde Intercollegiate in Arizona, Feb. 24-26. It will be the Pirates' third straight year competing in the early spring event. The Pirates won this event in 2014, but fell to 18th place last spring. In a first for the program, teammates Erin McClure and Ali Kruse tied for first among all individual golfers, with McClure winning the tournament on the second playoff hole in 2014. Last spring, Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) led The Hall with an 18-over-par, 78-81-75-234.

After a couple of weeks off, the Pirates will resume tournament play with the Jack Rabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State at Sienna Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev., March 10-11. It will be the first time competing in the event.

For the second consecutive spring, Seton Hall will participate in the Low Country Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford College, March 18-19 at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The event will afford the Pirates an opportunity to play on a course with very similar conditions to that of nearby Callawassie Golf Club, site of the 2017 BIG EAST Championship. Last year, The Hall tied for 10th at the Low Country Intercollegiate with former Pirate Megan Tenhundfeld tying for ninth at 9-over-par.

Two weeks later, the Pirates will return to the comfortable confines of the Hoya Invitational, April 10-11. Seton Hall has played in this tournament, held at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md., in five of the last six years. Last spring, The Hall finished third, matching its best finish at the event. Pantelas and former Pirate Karlie Zabrosky both logged top-10 finishes. The Hall's best team finish was 54-over-par in 2013.

Finally, the Pirates will attempt to become the first Seton Hall athletics program to win four consecutive BIG EAST titles when it defends its crown at the annual BIG EAST Championship at Callawassie Golf Club in Callawassie Island, S.C., April 21-23. It's the second straight year that the conference's marquee is at Callawassee. Last year, the Pirates fired a 71-over-par, 318-303-314, to win their third straight championship. Pantelas and Zabrosky were named to the All-Tournament Team, tying for fourth place at 15-over-par. Tenhundfeld and McKenzie Cutter also notched top-10 finishes.
