Game 1 Game Thread: Monmouth vs. Seton Hall

Not exactly an artistic success but a rout. Things that stood out, not necessarily in priority order:

- Defense and intensity were excellent
- Way too many TO's, no doubt due to newness of players, injuries, not enough practice together
- Free throw shooting was lousy
- Tae Davis has a lot of game and a WHOLE lot of potential
- Sanders' shooting is sweet
- Samuel showed none of the casual play of the last three years. Loved that.
- Monmouth is pretty bad

Just looking at the stat sheet for tonight’s game highlighted certain areas of our game that need improvement if we are to be a competitive BE team . Here’s what I saw that fall into that category :
1. We had one starter in double figures in Samuel and 3 players off the bench in double figures.
2. Our 3 point shooting was lacking with 8 - 23 ( 34.8%)
3. We only shot 59% , 23 - 39 free throws .
4. We had 20 turnovers and 13 assists.
.5. We out rebounded Monmouth by 46 to 42 .

The stat sheet doesn’t reflect how hard we played, how the players looked for each other and how engaged the coaching staff is throughout the game not to overlook that playing strong defense is obviously a priority for Sha and his staff. Our FG percentage was respectable with 24 -53 or 45.3% as pluses in tonights game.

I didnt think tray had a good offensive game. TOs. Love his skills but i loved them last yr too. I like harris too. Not sure i like him more than dawes, who i expect will move the ball better while last night he had sticky hands. I like the little i have seen of femi. I think samuel will be the best offensive big and if kadary isnt our best offensive pkayer will be a long season. Hated us not doing the opening play a bunch.

I didnt see an offensive standout but saw a bunch who will give us great offensive minutes

I saw a lot of unselfish guys but also having the confidence to take the shot if they had it.

I also saw a lot of easy baskets because of the ball movement and defense and a lot of missed opportunities because of a turnover on one of those passes. I also saw a team that is an extension of their coach in Game 1.

literally nobody expects Kadary to be the best offensive player. What are you talking about??
