Georgia Game Thread

34-34 under 16 minutes. Both Desi and Angel pick up their 2nd and 3rd fouls. Refs are
calling it tight right now.

Too many selfish plays.

Every year we say the same thing about "the players"... It's the offensive game plan. It's been 6 years of the same comments about the players... ITS THE OFFENSIVE GAMEPLAN.

Hall leads 42-40. Carrington scores first 10 points of the half for SHU. Angel hit 2 free throws.
Under 12 minutes. Looks to be a night where Carrington, IW and anybody else. Desi still sitting
with 3 fouls. Georgia over the limit. SHU shoots 2 the rest of the way.

Hall up 9 after a great IW conventional 3 pointer and a Gordon 3 point bank shot. IW and
Carrington are playing at a very high level. Good team defense also. Nzei and Singh
on the court during this run.

Hall up by 7 under 8 minutes. Desi just got his 4th foul. IW forced the play for a couple of minutes
which wasn't good. This is a dogfight for sure.

The Hall should be up 20 and they're up three. Just stupid, selfish play, and that is NOT the game plan.

Hall leads by 3 under 4 minutes. The defense is very intense by Georgia. Carrington and
IW will have to take care of business.

3:52 left. SHU in big trouble now because willard has to try to coach....clapping won't be enough.

Hall up by 5 with 22 seconds and the ball. IW playing out of his mind in the last 3 minutes.

Big win by the Hall 69-62 IW and Carrington. Very good defense the last 8 minutes. Angel
played a very strong last 12 minutes,

I thought kenshane was pretty positive. Anyway nice win. I would love to see us run a set play
in the last 4 minutes. Looks like we are NYC streetball and that's how I'd describe us.

Great team rebounding tonight. Our guys really got after it and showed toughness and fight.

Defense was excellent. A very good- win but I wish we had better outside shooters. And sometimes IW tries to do too much by himself.

The guys mostly played hard but late in the the first half one of the announcers asked, " where is Seton Hall's pride" meaning we were lax. We kicked it up a lot in the second half- that's coaching- so kudos to KW for that.

Summary: Need an all out effort for an entire game if we are to compete with the better teams.

Whitehead is a great physical talent but he is not a point guard. His shot selection is awful.

Having said that…great win and move on.

big road test this coming week at gw, at rutgers a good team should win both

Points: IW 22, KC 20... Assists: IW 0, KC 3

Team had a total of 8 assists.

Selfish ISO bball.

yes like i said play him off the ball, have carrington run the primary ball handling, doesn't mean that iw wouldnt have the ball

Defensive intensity won this game. Very good defensive effort tonight and Carrington carried us at points in the game and Zeke was stong down the stretch. Nice game. Have to still improve at the foul line and we simply need more from our bench. Good minutes from Anderson in the first half. Gordon has to stop throwing the ball away but he had some good moments defensively. Still a long way to go but a gutty win I thought.

Looks to be about 5500-6000 in the building. A day game would have been better, but
TV probably wanted it early. Not sure if Devils played in the afternoon.
Devils played in Canada. The crowd was loud but the numbers were disappointing. Low student turnout as well.

Announced attendance 6553.

BTW, SEC team against SHU and the Ledger didn't feel fit to send someone to cover the game.

Seton Hall has to work through the OOC and prove the fanbase that they can compete hopefully with no meltdowns. Georgia is a good team to bring in, but not a marquee program like a UNC or something like that. I do believe that the day would have been better also. Watching on TV it looked like the crowd was polite and hopeful, but not very involved until that last portion of the game. Students missing because of Thanksgiving break. If we can somehow get GW and Rutgers into the win column I would expect a really nice turnout for Wichita St. Plus they deserve a payback for last year's beat down.

The SHU kids are really trying and that's what we want and expect. The games they've played so far are not flowing, but they do have spurts of excitement. Their offensive system is NYC streetball at this point. However, it is their path to success for now. Maybe they'll get Singh and Gordon to hit some outside shots which will help. They also need to get Angel more touches with better spacing for him.

5-1 is about where we expected them to be. The last 2 wins against Ole Miss and Georgia from a power conference give us some hope for a good season.

IW comes in and immediately chucks up a 25ft 3pointer. Then smacks Gaines in the face on D.

IW trying to "be the man" in this game. Talking smack in Gaines face after IW hit his first 3pt shot.
Whitehead D'ed up Gaines with great energy and success all game. And he made the huge three to tie at half and scored the last 7 plus made a key steal to end it.

It thrills me to see the star of the team work so hard on defense. And he always plays D. He takes too many bad shots and forces too many, no doubt. The smack was inadvertent. The smack talk wasn't, and he would be better served to lose some of the talk.

Tomorrow I will be posting quotes on the Trove from Carrington and Whitehead. One in particular from Isaiah really addresses your point above.

He was trying to "one up" him in the first half. It caused him to take some bad shots and drives.

Second half was an improvement.
