DG should handle the postgame presser every game
Typical reaction for this younger generation.
IW wanted the crowd at the game, they came. He stayed home.
And then he blames the crowd.
Those are not the only options. Real coaches get kids with no different baggage than our kids have, or more, and succeed. I see this as about willard and leadership. We sell our souls to get these kinds of kids. Beg them to come.
And we wonder why they don't respect us or value their educations?
Funny, but we never got this kind of crap from the Canarias kids. They were happy to be here. Sure, they lost but so do the guys we have now. AND the CBA guys never ever quit.
Am really sick over this.

I wonder how we react to a boss with a record of failure if we think it is hurting our careers? We are bailing asap.
I truly believe at times we the fans are making more out of these situations. We are
over analyzing everything that happens or is said.
Maybe we are but we've seen this movie before. One of your starters curses out the coach and gets benched for a half. The coach talks to him but his play has not improved and he gets benched yesterday. Then the team has two lousy practices leading into the Villanova game. Then the coach benches three starters for the remainder of the Creighton game and doesn't tell them why. Then a first-year player calls a players only meeting. And this is the stuff we know. I'm not sure how you can dismiss all of that.I truly believe at times we the fans are making more out of these situations. We are

I heard Gordon's clip on Hall line. Sounded like he just wanted to show some
leadership, get the guys together so they could stay on the same page. I just don't
sense any large issues. That's how I see it anyway.

Joe benigno says it best...a lot of pain...its crazy how quickly things escalate and are blown out of proportion. being a shu fan is hard stuff.
I dont think the fans are giving up. i think most of them are worried that the team is giving up...again.So we lost to Creighton. I'll tell you guys what, a lot of quality teams would have lost to Creighton the way they played yesterday. You guys who are right back on the "Willard sucks, the same thing happens to us every year, now we have no chance this year" bandwagon are really a disgrace. You should really step back and take a look at yourselves in the mirror. In the end, you may be right. But as of now, the reality is we have one loss to Villanova--at Nova with a lot of home cooking from the refs--and one home loss to a Creighton team that played really well. That is NOT a reason to give up on this team!
I was not happy to see our best players sitting out at the end of the game yesterday, but unlike a lot of you I gave Willard the benefit of the doubt because clearly our starting rotation was not getting the job done and in that situation a good coach tries other things. And guess what, the guys he brought in actually did better than our starters and closed the gap. Might we have done better with Isaiah, Angel and Desi in? Maybe, but we sure didn't earlier in the half. And if you stop and think about it, Willard proved yesterday that Rashed Anthony, Braeden Anderson and Myles Carter all can match of effectively with the likes of Geoffrey Groselle. And you know what, that's a damn powerful thing to know as this team moves deeper into conference play against other teams with big guys. Suddenly now we know that we have a lot of guys who can play effective D in the paint without a need to be afraid of giving fouls, and other coaches know we have a lot of guys who can take fouls, so just going after Angel no longer looks like such a viable option for them. This kind of stuff matters and I presume Willard was taking the opportunity to establish it while our starters were having a bad day. Making some lemonade out of lemons if you will.
I do not think Willard is a great coach (read any of my posts from last season), but I am not giving up on his ability to get better. But you guys who just sit there and say that because we had one bad game this year it's undeniable proof that Willard sucks and that our season is doomed (despite the obviously deep and talented roster) are really a piece of work. You should be ashamed of yourselves if you call yourselves Pirate fans. Out of one side of your mouths you say Willard quit on the team in the second half; out of the other side of your mouths YOU quit on the team and say our season is over! Out of one side of your mouths you say Isaiah needs to learn to be more controlled on social media (I agree but he's getting better); out of the other side of your mouths you go using social media in the most destructive, negative way I can think of, in a way that puts Isaiah's little frustrated tweet to shame!
Why don't you try living up to our motto? A little more Hazard Zet Forward on this season please. If you're giving up on it at the first sign of adversity, YOU are quitters and losers, period.
Obviously not all of the fans are giving up (hey, I'm a fan), but some of the stuff above is disgusting.I dont think the fans are giving up. i think most of them are worried that the team is giving up...again.
bottom line is they had a players meeting. there must have been a reason.

As much as I hate to say it (and it's nothing personal!), I agree, for the most part.So we lost to Creighton.
