And Sampson has kept guys there. They’re one of the top teams in the country in continuity.Hoping for a good game, of course. No knock on Florida, but I have loved watching Kelvin Sampson teams play for a while now and this year is no different. Their style, like a few others, makes you want to root for them IMO because of how hard they compete. It's different than how so many other good teams win nowadays, but I still enjoy the 90s Knicks type of relentlessness and tenacity.
While Houston is a better shooting team than its prior versions -- with the 3-guard/wing tandem that shoots it over 40% on the year from 3 -- they still have stretches it seems where they can struggle on the offensive end. But I think they'll be able to withstand Florida runs and pull it out.
My main concern with Houston is whether there is any "toll" or "lag" from winning such an emotionally charged, draining game on Saturday night.
Houston choked. However, what’s most unfortunate about this outcome is that creepy coach todd golden’s inappropriate behavior will be permanently swept under the rug. Sick.
I don't think it's fair to say Houston choked. Florida simply did an incredible job on the last possession. Watch the replay and see how far Clayton came to stop that long 3. Just fabulous.Houston choked. However, what’s most unfortunate about this outcome is that creepy coach todd golden’s inappropriate behavior will be permanently swept under the rug. Sick.
No. I was talking about down the stretch they choked. That’s very fair to say considering they were up 12. I didn’t say anything about the last possession- although it was indeed horrendous.I don't think it's fair to say Houston choked. Florida simply did an incredible job on the last possession. OK, fair enough.No. I was talking about down the stretch they choked. That’s very fair to say considering they were up 12. I didn’t say anything about the last possession- although it was indeed horrendous.
Essence of college basketball. They’re a spotty shooting team; 124th in EFG%, 296th in 2PT% this year.Houston won a game they should have lost and lost a game they should have won
Sha is going to have to adjust his style as good coaches do. Will he? Doubtful.Tough defensive game where every shot was challenged and every rebound was a battle. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it came down to the last possession. I watch those two teams and they play the way Sha would like his teams to play. What a difference though.
Last two possessions, Houston didn’t get off a shot. Combination good defense and poor execution on offense. Maybe the stats don’t lie.Essence of college basketball. They’re a spotty shooting team; 124th in EFG%, 296th in 2PT% this year.
Also, for such a close National Title game, it was somehow among the least entertaining title games I can remember. Painful to watch at times.
LOL Nice, long reach with the armchair psychology there, but my take on the game is hardly exclusive to me. A lot of people did not think it was a particularly good game. It’s hardly being heralded as an instant classic. In fact, many thought the entire tournament itself was pretty lackluster. Sorry my opinion differs from yours. You must have been in a bad mood. Great game from start to finish.
