Inauguration

isnt teaming up with billionaires something the people of america shouldn't be happy about?

Why on earth would we want the smartest, most accomplished, tech leaders that can assist in national security, improve the environment and provide hundreds of thousands of high paying US based jobs on Team America???

No, let’s go with Oprah and George Clooney….

Just amusing to see the flip because of all the complaining about all of the influence that billionaires have when they are liberal.
No one really cares about the influence of money when it is on their side... and "team America" was tongue in cheek.

Exactly my point. Rich people who disagree with you are bad.
Rich people who agree with you are good.

because politicians are supposed to represent the people, not corporations and the 1%. it's sort of the whole point. you've strayed so far from the entire point.

btw, looked like a gay old time during the YMCA. its a parody of itself

No, rich people that actually do things that help America are good.

What good does George Clooney provide?

Joe Rogan is basically Oprah for a different generation.

Zuckerberg is helping America? The guy who owns two of the platforms that drive social media addiction for kids, something you have expressed concerns about here many times, is good?

I didn’t mention Rogan. He’s a celebrity and is no different.

But explain to me having Musk, Cook and Bezos engaged is a bad thing.

It depends. You can team up with billionaires for good and you can team up with them for bad. If they do bad, the American people should make their voices heard.

Let's see what they come up with to make it better. If they do nothing, it's a problem. But you can't negotiate to make it better if they're not sitting at the same table. If they don't do the job they need to get out of the way.

You're literally saying it can't be good 1 hour in. Let's see.

For today he showed the world how mesmerized one can be looking at the cleavage of sanchez

What i want to know is will there be improved metrics for today to 6 months out to 12 months 18 24 30 36 42 and 48 months on...

Cost of gas, milk, eggs, grocery index, dow jones, mortage rates, inflation, unemployment rate

Talk to people. Don't rely on the Twitter. Every stat could say one thing but if the people aren't feeling it then WGAS. Every American should answer if they're life is better. Do they feel safer. Are they struggling financially less or more. The only people confident Kamala would win are the people living in a bubble with only one type of friend. See the view.

I'm not saying it can't be good. I'm personally just amused about their embrace.
People who would be critical of Oprah being there for a Dem and cheering about Rogan.
People who would have been critical of Zuckerberg being there when he was embracing democrats are cheering for him because his politics shifted. etc...

Personally I don't trust any of them. But I'm not opposed to giving them a shot and if they're in it for themselves and their own greed get them out. But with them the potential for greatness is astronomical.

these people can solve world hunger or pay off the national debt. anything good they do is a disguised byproduct of enriching themselves

and i think if you had to make a guess , you'd say the same.

he's literally one of 3 people you mentioned.

do we really have to explain why billionaire controlling and influencing politicians is a bad thing? especially the president?

like how delusional are we that we really have to state that like it's some crazy idea. billionaires dictating policy is bad. its why america exists. how is this any different than a russian oligarchy.

having the .0001% elite corporate billionaires entrenched in the inauguration is a good thing? elected officials are supposed to represent the people. yes please let the 3 trillionairs influence what is good for the people. they surely know. they've done such a great job making everyone's situation a better.

its not even debatable. its a bad thing. yea great george clooney bad. this is bad too. worse.

these billionaires have the ability, right now, to change everyone's life for the better in all these areas. if they wanted to. but they haven't and they wont. they must be so altruistic in a way i don't see

Rogan and Oprah have no impact on a politicians success in office. It doesn’t even look like they influence people. Rogan is a podcaster and at the end of the day Trump had to do all the heavy lifting for three hours, while Kamala declined.

Zuck realizing he better be at the table if all the other tech giants are there.

But if you don’t think that the others can’t help unleash technology to help defend the country from our greatest threats, that’s just foolish. Unleashing AI to streamline the government? Why not.

Trump is on the clock now and time will tell if he can fulfill his agenda. He’s way ahead of schedule from the first term of having his cabinet ready; and he won’t have the distractions of defending all of the hoaxes (Russian collusion, the Ukraine call, etc.).

Sounds like you're looking for a handout. They can fix problems just give us all some money guys.

Tell me how these billionaires are the ones who will make people feel safer right now?

I said they were in the house at the start of the thread. You brought up “billionaires” later on and that’s what I responded to. Rogan is not even close to being a billionaire.

Maybe think about what some of those billionaires have created an how it’s either helped or could continue to help Americans:
- Starlink? Helped when communications went down in North Carolina flooding.
- Amazon? In a supply chain crisis wouldn’t it make sense to have them provide emergency relief with their coverage?
- Tesla? What EV manufacturer is helping the environment more?
- AI? The race to harness AI and defend against it is arguably the most important issue facing the country.

No matter how you feel, they are all on the clock now. Hope they can make a positive difference.

It has been a very long time that government has done much differently. Maybe just maybe there is a chance things can be improved even a little bit. We will know more in 4 or 5 years.

I will say this, with the event taking place indoors, it was pretty surreal to see everyone jammed in together(almost fitting into one camera shot) while Trump gave his address. Minus a funeral, I never thought we’d see them all so close in such a tight spot, and while one of them is just politically teeing off to big rounds of applause and standing ovations. Equal measures of wide-eyed, uncomfortable and very humorous.
