Is it true Yankee fans booed Judge?

As I said in the beginning of the season, its all or nothing with the yankees. And in this series it was nothing... but I think thier BABIP average was really good. So there is that.

50 strike-outs in 108 at bats. Judge had a miserable post season, but so did the entire team. This is on Cashman for the continued home run or strike out line-up. Losing DJ didn't help, but much deeper than that.

They will pay Judge (and they should).

With the way the season ended and Judge’s future undecided and the fans cheering for the Steinbrenner family to sell the team I can see a major drop in attendance from this year as the Yankees were one of 3 teams to average 40,000 fans behind only the Dodgers and Cardinals. With Yankee attendance boosted by Judge’s home run chase if he walks there’s not one player on the roster that creates a buzz or who you want to see . Lots of big decisions ahead for the Yankees this off season and it should be interesting especially with the Mets having an owner willing to spend big bucks.

Yankees need a change in philosophy and leadership. Time for Cashman and Boone to go. I’m tired of watching a lineup of .200 hitters with 30 HR and 150 + strikeouts. Give me a lineup of .280-.300 hitters with 15 HR who can produce runs without the HR. When you’re facing the best teams and their aces in the playoffs they’re not serving up cookies that you see in regular season. Need to be able to build runs and when your team strikes out 17 times a game that’s not happening.

Judge is not the guy you just let walk. He's turned himself into a very good multidimensional player. His type of play is not holding the yankees back. Pedro Martinez said it before the game. These are not the Bernie Williams Yankees. Those teams didn’t strikeout much. Those teams made you throw pitches. Those teams played defense. Those teams did all the little things to win games. These Yankees don’t do that.

Judge bats .300 and is a good outfielder. Judge is much more than a homer run or nothing player. He’s turned himself into a good ball player. Yes his strikeouts are high, but he walks at a ton, he goes deep into counts, he has played very good defense, and can swipe a bag. He also showed this whole season he can lay off the breaking pitches that gave him a ton problems in previous years. The only reasons you let him is walk is concern over injuries or he wants too many years.

As much as people want to reinvent baseball with analytics, it still comes down to common sense old school baseball that wins. Solid starting pitching, good defense, putting the ball in play, get ‘em on, get ‘em over, get em in. Solid starting pitching still trumps all. Other than Cole and Sabathia, they haven't really gone out there to get that ace or even guys with that bulldog mentality out there on the mound like they did in the 90s. The yankees have built a nice bullpen over the years, but you need starting pitching.

What does surprise me is how little attention is given to the lack of position players that come up thru the Yankee farm system which has resulted in the Yankees having to go the free agent or the trade route and winding up with older players at inflated salaries with declining productivity thus limiting going after the top free agents to avoid going over the salary cap, ala Joey Gallo and Josh Donaldson as classic examples.

I would never try to make the argument that a team is better off without Aaron Judge. Solid hitter with extreme power and a capable defensive player at multiple outfield positions. Yes, he strikes out far too much, but that's offensive baseball philosophy in the 21st century. Injuries are something of a concern but he has played 148 and 157 the past two seasons. Even turning 31 in April, a healthy Judge should perform near peak for the majority of what figures to be an eight to 10-year contract.

However, when evaluating how much and for how long you want to pay Aaron Judge this off-season, his career post-season numbers have to be considered.

44 games, a slash line of .211/.310.462/.772. 36 hits in 171 ABs with 13 HR and 25 RBI. 66 strikeouts and 25 BB (none intentional).

Since 2019, the batting average is .182 (19-104) with 6 HR and 10 RBI. 36 strikeouts and 13 BB.

As responsible as he is for the Yankees' regular season success, he is at fault for their post-season failings.

In defense of Cashman, the Yankees were without Bennitende and LeMehuieu who are both not "homerun or strikeout" type of hitters. They could have made a difference in the series since the Yankees blew three winable games on bad defense and lack of timely hitting. With that said, it's time for the Yankees to rebuild. It will be interesting to see what happens with Judge in terms of the expected Giants' big money offer. Do they break the bank in matchng the Giants' offer or do they use it as an excuse to sign other players who can carry them through the playoffs?

They have players in their minor leagues but the front office (cashman) doesn't have the patience to allow them to develop and experience some growing pains. I can't speak for all Yankee fans but I'd be fine if the team took a step back for a season or 2 to develop a core like the 90's..

What I’d like to know is when Boone makes a pitching change is it his decision or if it’s one made by the now infamous analytic unit .
There's no way he is told how/when to make picthing changes in-game. Now, does he go into each game with an understanding between him and the pitching coach as to how to use the bullpen based on situations and who's rested? Yes, I would think.

Mighty Casey has grounded out. Pathetic end of the season for the Yankees. Time to clean house. Unacceptable performance by this organization.
As a long-term Yankee hater I can't resist saying this was a very pleasing result. Personally, I hope they don't clean house.

I think the Yankees should save the money on a manager and just use a trained monkey with an Ipad to make decisions. That's pretty much the function of Boone.

It serves no positive purpose and is a negative act towards uiur team. It helps the boo-er feel better. I never got booed at work. But boo all you want. Nyc fans cheered a coach choker, so boo a great player/person i guess.

About 20 years ago, fans were booing the SHU pirates for blowing an 18 point lead. A wise poster, who shall remain nameless, posted "never boo your own Team." I never forgot that, 75.

You tell me at your work were there folks who paid hundreds if not thousands to watch you? Sorry, I likely am not a booer unless it’s an absence of sportsmanship on the field but when you watch the embarrassment that was this series I can’t condemn the fans who show displeasure.

Judge just came off of a historic season with nearly a triple crown to go with his 62 homers. How many hitters in MLB history have had a season like that? And you're "now worried about next season and beyond with him"? Every hitter (good, bad and great) goes through a slump. Heck, Altuve (career > .300 hitter) went 0-25 in the post season...Fortunately for Houston, they had hitters and strong pitching around him to pick up slack. The Yankees don't have that...at least not on a consistent basis.
He wasn’t in a slump. He clearly changed everything about his approach at the plate. Started swinging at everything. That’s the kind of stuff tht does damage to a player. Altuve going 0-25 was probably more bad luck then anything else

Agree he changed a lot. However he’s got 4 months to adjust back to where things were. I think he will be fine as far as that goes.

History is repeating itself, we learned before Stick that buying World Series rings was hard to do. We traded away a lot of good young players.

Taking your best pitcher out of a game with bases loaded in the Fifth inning was my favorite. They are ruining Cole. Guy had fire when he pitched for the Astros. You got him for moments like that 5th inning.
