Aside from the incredible embarrassment, the monetary cost in revenue in everything from tickets to applications and everything in between is costing the school more $$$ than it ever could have spent on NIL.

This leadership group took a program that had a great decade and destroyed it. They drank their own Kool-Aid.

Pat Lyons’ golf handicap is really good, and he makes the most of his Country Club membership. In the new era of Revenue Sharing that should be considered as an opportunity cost to SHU where that money should be going to acquiring players.

I have no problem with asking questions about the two individuals mentioned, but I agree with your point as well. The primary problem here is the head coach. He should be the first one to resign.

The reality is that the entire Athletidc Department and staff may need clean sweep because it’s hard to trust that Shaheen would do the right thing with a bigger NIL/Revenue Sharing budget. We are a bad offensive team because we don’t have enough true shooters/scorers like we had in players like Dawes. Jaquan Smith would be one of the best players on this year’s team.

But who among the leadership of this school would have the courage to make the hard decisions? We were saved in the past by guys like Pat Hobbs who took control when Gonzo went off the ranch. We don’t have anyone like that who can be objective as far as I can tell. I don’t think the problems change with a new head coach. We were picked 10th for a reason. And when you’re down 2 starters who were expected to carry us to 10th place I’m not sure what people expect. I’m no fan of the last 3 years and was outspoken that the season last year was a bust. Our program was at a point where it was NCAA or bust. A year later, if we’re not at rock bottom we’re so close any normal human can’t tell the difference. I hate to be saying this but getting to NIT will now be an achievement until we get back to NCAA or bust standards.

This. The mistake was playing into the Louisville rumors and offering an extension before he had accomplished anything here. Unless you consider an NIT title an accomplishment. In that case, offer him a lifetime deal.

Lyons at least has a body of work here that one could debate the merits of. I don't see what Felt has brought to the table during his tenure, short of overseeing the rapid decline of essentially every sport we have. I respect his passion for the school and the athletic program, but I thought it was a very weak hire at the time and nothing has happened since to change that feeling.

Why even go that extreme? While we clearly seem incapable of finding a proper basketball program, we still certainly have the means to produce quality non-revenue sports programs at a fraction of what is being donated now.

Those programs, imo, are the ones that really shine a light on the ineffectiveness of our leadership. There's no good reason for these programs languishing as often as they do.

2 More years? I would fire him after this year; I can at least understand the argument for another year to give him a chance. But at least 2 more years? You are okay with being the worst program in major college basketball for the next two years?

I really don't understand talking about his commitment to us...what are you referring to? He used Louisville last year as an opportunity to get more money. He is paid 2.5 million dollars. What commitment are you referring to that earns him extra time?

If Shaheen can't be managed by Felt, then that's an issue. Felt in no way, shape or form, should have to manage a grown adult male. Especially when he hired him. They need to work together- based on his sideline demeanor, I can see what you are referring to but no coach should need to be managed by their AD.
