Maybe Meat Loaf said it best when he penned Two Out of Three Ain't Bad.

Kevin Willard's early freshmen class consisted of three high school recruits. 6-9 forward Percy Daniels from Baton Rouge, 6-3 2G and Far Rockaway, N.Y. native Jaquan Sanders and 6-4 combo guard Jaquan Harris from North Brunswick, N.J. who is the younger brother of Seton Hall guard Jamir Harris.

Of the three, Sanders and Harris remained committed with the Seton Hall change of staff while Daniels decided to stay in state and commit to hometown Tulane.

“Jaquan is going to Seton Hall,” his father, Laquan Harris was quoted as saying after the change in staff from Willard to new SHU coach Shaheen Holloway. And staying with Meat Loaf that was music to the ears of all Pirate fans.

Harris, a 3 star ESPN recruit, did not play much this past season at St. Thomas Aquinas High School due to a knee injury but hopes to be fully ready to play for the Pirates this coming season. In fact he is slowly ramping up in practice this past week in summer drills inside the confines of Walsh Gymnasium.

“I need to continue to get stronger, keep sharpening my skills, and be ready to learn,” Harris said earlier this month. “I know it’ll be a lot for me to get used too but I’m up for it.”

Harris chose the Pirates over interest from Connecticut, Marquette, Rutgers, Auburn and Illinois.

What does older brother Jamir Harris, coming back for a super senior season at the Hall have to say about his younger sibling?

“Since we were younger we always talked about being able to play with each other (in college). It’s special to able to have an opportunity to do that. It’s a dream come true.

"He’s a guy that’s good with the ball, he can shoot the three. He’s a really good passer, very athletic, so he does everything pretty well and he’s a very unselfish player that really cares about winning.”

Seton Hall beat writer Jerry Carino had these offerings when Harris announced his commitment March 2021.

1. He runs the point

“One of the main reasons he came here is so he wasn’t pigeonholed as just a shooter,” (high school coach Turco) said. “He makes good decisions with the ball and he’s able to defend guards who are quicker and smaller.”

In two seasons running the show for St. Thomas Aquinas, Jaquan averages 15.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. The Trojans have posted a record of 28-5 with him in the lineup and play a strong schedule outside of the Greater Middlesex Conference. Jaquan scored 29 against a loaded Life Center squad this past season.

"Jaquan is bigger, more of an athlete, and more of a point guard (than Jamir)," Jay Gomes said.

Jaquan is rated thee stars and ranked No. 140 in the Class of 2022 by 247Sports. He was recruited by several high-majors, including Rutgers and UConn.

2. His knee is doing better

No surgery was required, Turco said, and Jaquan returns to the weight room this week.

“He’ll probably play AAU in a month or so, hopefully by May,” the coach said.

3. He’s a worker

Turco, a longtime skipper whose previous stops included Monroe and Notre Dame, said Jaquan has a 3.4 grade point average and an “unmatched” drive.

“He’s one of the best, if not the best, that I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching,” Turco said. “I think that tendinitis was because he wouldn’t give his body time off. I’ve got to throw him out of the gym.”

Jaquan credits his brother for that.

"Jamir taught me how to work hard," he said. "He laid out the blueprint."

Both brothers were asked who wins in one-on-one. Both said Jamir.

"It's competitive, but I've got that right now," Jamir said.

When asked who wins at H-O-R-S-E, they both pointed to youngest brother Jebron Harris, who will be a freshman at St. Thomas Aquinas in the fall.

Will there be more to come with another Harris now playing high school ball?

Brother Jamir thinks so....“I feel like we’re building a legacy for the Harris family and a Harris name at Seton Hall."
