Kadary earning his money

It feels so weird. St. John’s feels like watching an AAU team.

And Marquette abandons their entire inside game and just keeps kicking out passes for 3’s.

But St. John’s is an all-star team of upper classmen. Pretty dangerous come tourney time.

Do you think St Johns is getting their money's worth. Absolutely.

How much do they make with 19,000 people in the Garden every game, front page of the NY Post, ranked in Top 10 of the country. Whatever it took to put this team together was worth every penny.

I think they play the opposite of an AAU team. When I played AAU, it was all about offense-offense-offense. Everybody trying to "get theirs". On paper, this team was picked 5th in the league based on talent, and that was despite having the HC they have on the sidelines.

They are playing unbelievable team defense, kill the glass and are unselfish on offense almost to a fault at times.

They remind me of a lesser version, not as good Kelvin Sampson Houston team with how hard they play and how they attack.

Their defense is so much smarter and tougher than ours. Even Rafferty commented how good the defense rotation was. They missed 14 FTs and still won in control.

Offensively the shooting and FTs are still an issue, which is the case for other defensive-minded teams.

They just play so god damn hard. Zuby could score 0 points and he's so valuable because of what he does on the offensive glass and switching on defense.

But Smith has also been compromised with the injury. I think he's a key to unlocking part of that. He started to play a bit more tonight like the player he is -- don't know if he can be that with the injury or if he'll continue to get better as he shakes off rust.

They can't shoot at all but their defense and rebounding are excellent and their 6 main players all complement each other well.

Having 2 Point Guards with completely different games is a massive advantage.

All that said, I think Uconn smacks them on Friday. That's a huge statement game, and Uconn matches up well with them in being able to protect the glass and shoot the 3. And I don't think SJU shoots it well enough right now to make up for Uconn's defensive lapses.

They have a couple guys who can shoot too, which is the odd thing. Smith's a big part of that IMO.

Bingo. Someone send this to the SHU Admin.

I’m unfortunately of the mindset that we will not get this right…

Remember, they’re playing against the UConn killer.

Damn man. That’s a helluvan explanation in defense of your guys. I got you.

You’ve got multiple responses on here with the continual “downplay” of your boys in hopes they smoke UConn Friday evening. All good.

St. John’s is an all-star team playing well together. That was the comment made regarding AAU. Not all AAU kids look to score. They know assists, blocks, rebounds also get them to the next level.

Good for them. Their high level investments have paid off.

Admittedly I only watched the last 10 minutes because I really don’t care.

I know you watch them closely and you’re the expert on these guys and Ricky boy

they are strong and tough and play good d. their shooting is the problem. even fts sucked. how did kr go from 80% to 50 this year. i was happy to see him have the moment. wasnt sure how i'd feel.

Agreed. I made a similar comment the other day. Seton Hall should opt into a large rev share because if allocated correctly schools make all that money back.

The delta in ticket sales this year compared to last pays for Kadary multiple times over.

Davis had a good game last, too, vs. Kentucky.: seventeen points with fewest minutes among starters. Don't know his foul situation.
Ole Miss seems to be on TV a lot. I've seen them three times in last few weeks. .

Looks like Danny Hurley has competition to being the superstar coach of the Big East . Having two top coaches like Hurley and Pitino are a significant plus for the BE and its credibility as a top conference especially if they both go far in the tournament.

I hope you're right. Kadary tends to have great games against us. It is a good test for both teams.

Hey, there we are! Good ol’ finishing school preparing pieces for good teams. Samuel, Davis, and Richmond were all impact players on their new teams. Yay us! 🙄

And the fact that they don't like each other is another plus. I'm looking forward to the game Friday.

Rick shouting seton hall out in his post game interview with Rafferty, talking about Kadary being extremely well coached at seton hall now he has the finished product. Respect.

Hope both these teams get to the 2nd weekend. We saw the weaknesses of both teams last night that can hold them back: SJ can’t shoot and MU can’t rebound.

SJU made us look like kids. MU was a little better but is still looked like they need way more time in the weight room..

I love K Rich, one of my all time favorites. When he hits that top gear, unstoppable. He deserves everything that comes his way, he was smart to maximize his earnings in this environment. - We all would.

College hoops is a massive business more than ever, it's really semi-pro. AD's, & Coaches have made an absolute fortune off the system for years, time to share the weath.

The players are the product and they deserve some cut. Nobody's forcing fans to pay, if you want to you can if you don't that's fine as well.

And if Seton Hall cant handle this new environment or doesn't want to for financial reasons then we are out. I seriously doubt that will happen but to be honest we were lucky to be invited to the BE 46 years ago in the first place.

SHU will be fine - Go Pirates

Maybe Sha did a great job coaching him, but he never got the praise from Sha that Pitino just gave him. Must be nice to finally be paid a compliment. Somehow somebody will find a reason to say that Sha’s trashing Kadary to the media is the reason that Kadary has hit his peak this year. 🙄

Other than Sha saying he thought he could have the best backcourt in the country last year? And he said it at the beginning of the season.

When Sha correctly supported Dawes last year when those on this board were calling for Dawes to be benched and a lesser role, many here blasted Sha.
