Very much so. Played a great game. St. John’s has a VERY good teamJohnnies very tough
I think they play the opposite of an AAU team. When I played AAU, it was all about offense-offense-offense. Everybody trying to "get theirs". On paper, this team was picked 5th in the league based on talent, and that was despite having the HC they have on the sidelines. It feels so weird. St. John’s feels like watching an AAU team.
And Marquette abandons their entire inside game and just keeps kicking out passes for 3’s.
But St. John’s is an all-star team of upper classmen. Pretty dangerous come tourney time.
Offensively the shooting and FTs are still an issue, which is the case for other defensive-minded teams.Their defense is so much smarter and tougher than ours. Even Rafferty commented how good the defense rotation was. They missed 14 FTs and still won in control.
They have a couple guys who can shoot too, which is the odd thing. Smith's a big part of that IMO.They can't shoot at all but their defense and rebounding are excellent and their 6 main players all complement each other well.
Having 2 Point Guards with completely different games is a massive advantage.
Bingo. Someone send this to the SHU Admin.Do you think St Johns is getting their money's worth. Absolutely.
How much do they make with 19,000 people in the Garden every game, front page of the NY Post, ranked in Top 10 of the country. Whatever it took to put this team together was worth every penny.
Remember, they’re playing against the UConn killer. All that said, I think Uconn smacks them on Friday. That's a huge statement game, and Uconn matches up well with them in being able to protect the glass and shoot the 3. And I don't think SJU shoots it well enough right now to make up for Uconn's defensive lapses.
Damn man. That’s a helluvan explanation in defense of your guys. I got you.I think they play the opposite of an AAU team. When I played AAU, it was all about offense-offense-offense. Everybody trying to "get theirs". On paper, this team was picked 5th in the league based on talent, and that was despite having the HC they have on the sidelines.
They are playing unbelievable team defense, kill the glass and are unselfish on offense almost to a fault at times.
They remind me of a lesser version, not as good Kelvin Sampson Houston team with how hard they play and how they attack.
they are strong and tough and play good d. their shooting is the problem. even fts sucked. how did kr go from 80% to 50 this year. i was happy to see him have the moment. wasnt sure how i'd feel.I think they play the opposite of an AAU team. Agreed. I made a similar comment the other day. Seton Hall should opt into a large rev share because if allocated correctly schools make all that money back.Do you think St Johns is getting their money's worth. Absolutely.

I hope you're right. Kadary tends to have great games against us. It is a good test for both teams. All that said, I think Uconn smacks them on Friday. That's a huge statement game, and Uconn matches up well with them in being able to protect the glass and shoot the 3. And I don't think SJU shoots it well enough right now to make up for Uconn's defensive lapses.
And the fact that they don't like each other is another plus. I'm looking forward to the game Friday.Looks like Danny Hurley has competition to being the superstar coach of the Big East . Having two top coaches like Hurley and Pitino are a significant plus for the BE and its credibility as a top conference especially if they both go far in the tournament.
Saquon would not look like an MVP behind the Giants O-Line and Kadary Richmond wouldn't have made this an NCAA tournament team.It reminds me of the Giants not paying Saquon and now watching him play like an MVP win and go for a championship next door
SJU made us look like kids. MU was a little better but is still looked like they need way more time in the weight room..Hope both these teams get to the 2nd weekend. We saw the weaknesses of both teams last night that can hold them back: SJ can’t shoot and MU can’t rebound.
Maybe Sha did a great job coaching him, but he never got the praise from Sha that Pitino just gave him. Must be nice to finally be paid a compliment. Somehow somebody will find a reason to say that Sha’s trashing Kadary to the media is the reason that Kadary has hit his peak this year. 🙄Hey, there we are! Good ol’ finishing school preparing pieces for good teams. Samuel, Davis, and Richmond were all impact players on their new teams. Yay us! 🙄
And we got screwed because the powers that be at Seton Hall want everyone to believe our NIL is wonderful and there are no problems. Idiots.
Other than Sha saying he thought he could have the best backcourt in the country last year? And he said it at the beginning of the season.Maybe Sha did a great job coaching him, but he never got the praise from Sha that Pitino just gave him. Must be nice to finally be paid a compliment. Somehow somebody will find a reason to say that Sha’s trashing Kadary to the media is the reason that Kadary has hit his peak this year. 🙄
if you were saq you were staying with the giants? It reminds me of the Giants not paying Saquon and now watching him play like an MVP win and go for a championship next door
Interesting thought. If you were Kadary, were you staying at SHU? Even if we matched the St John's offer, would he have stayed without anyone around him?if you were saq you were staying with the giants?
