Last years class looks like it might turn out to be pretty good overall but the “what if” is going to be just missing out on this QBs if Maye and Williams get to the perceived Daniels level.

Solid night for the Giants and Jets.

We needed another game wrecker on Defense. Must put an end to not stopping 3 and 12. Good move trading to late first round. I thought all 3 QBs there are decent not great. Did not give up the house to select the much needed future QB. No pressure to play him. With the 65th pick they could go OL or a dynamic LB if available. Would not mind a top Kicker with a late round Sat pick. It is an important position these days.

Giants took the best QB in the draft and will make him sit on the bench behind the corpse of Russell Wilson for a year or two.

Not so sure about that (re: PT). Daboll/Shoen can save their job one of two ways. Either the Wilson/Winston combo gets them a decent season, or the season is going sideways, they put Dart in the last bunch of games, and he shows promise. The latter they can sell ownership on maintaining continuity with the young QB development even if the record sucks (and they play the hardest projected schedule in the league). So, if they get off to a rough start, I think they will put Dart in sooner than later.

They were pretty competitive for a while last year in games but were clearly held back. They've done a lot of good things to improve that defense this offseason, it should be a good unit (Carter, Adebo, Holland, Golston, this DT Alexander could be good).

It will all come back to the offense. They're clearly signaling that they like what they saw and schemed and I guess the hope is Wilson > Jones to make up the difference. They haven't made any changes on that side.

Jaxson Dart is a much better prospect than Daniel Jones was, IMO. We'll see. Imagine they change the GM/HC on him for Year 2? LMAO. Peak Giants.

Let's see what happens today. I like most people are happy with the Carter pick. The Giants being pro active to trade in to the late first round was positive. I believe the positive spin on Dart is because he is new and different. Looking at his video you see a decent not great QB. No idea how Sanders could have fallen this much?? Not crazy about Alexander at 3. He's a depth piece. The Giants need impact starters. He looks slow and Toledo is not in a powerhouse conference by any means. I believe other teams scooped up Giant targets before the 65th pick. An OL could have been picked there. They should consider a kicker today with one of last 2 picks. A LB, OL, DB and one running back..

Carter…. Another Penn Stater the giants can mess with and then send down 95 to a better place.

Nice draft by the Giants!

Absolutely love the Cam Skattebo pick! Reminds me a little of James Conner with his toughness. Seems like a throw back player with character, remembering Giants greats like Mark Bavaro. Did anyone see his performance in the CFP quaterfinal vs Texas? Legendary. With just over 6 minutes left ASU down by 16. Skattabo throws a 42 yard td! Then he rushes for another TD...and gets the 2 pt conversion to take it to OT...and of course he scores in overtime.

Can't leave without taking a parting shot at Disgraceful Dave Gettleman. Am I the only one who thinks he probably would have taken Sanders with the 3rd pick? Lolzzz 😝 Thank heaven that nightmare is OVER!

Some good draft stuff on Mad Dog this week. Nice interview with Giants beat writer Paul Schwartz. He was high on the Dart pick. Besides his strong arm and athleticism he said there's a world of difference between him and Danny Dimes in terms of persona. He said Dart has a presence, a toughness, some swagger in the locker room. No shots taken against Daniel who was a good guy but didn't have that type of gravitas in the room that you want from your QB.

Probably my favorite moment of the draft was Tyler Shough. Seems like a great kid. The scene with his golden retriever, beautiful blonde wife, his whole family with grandma and grandpa there to congratulate him was like something out of a movie...but didn't look staged and felt quite genuine. For whatever reason it really moved me. Heard the Giants were high on him. While I'm happy about the Dart pick I'll be pulling for this kid.

Who knows about Dart. I’m hopeful. But aside from the rare, rare can’t miss even the NFL can’t figure out the “hits” or “misses” with drafting QBs. It’s such a hard complex position.

Jones was flawed, but I never questioned that kids toughness. He was tough as nails IMO and a better athlete than he got credit for from some.

Alexander is very quick for a DT. He ran a 4.95 40. That is fast. Big step up in competition though. He could be a diamond in the rough but many draft experts had him listed anywhere from the 45th to 60th best in the draft. He played very well at the Senior Bowl and caught the attention of a lot of coaches.

Don't like the AZ RB. Strong kid and tough as nails but this team needs speed and he doesn't have it. He can catch out of the backfield a bit but that's not his strong suit. Hope I'm wrong about him but I don't like the pick. NFL backs need speed and the ability to be a threat catching the ball in today's game.

After the Carter pick it feels sketchy to me. Had to take a QB with that second pick and I understand it. No idea how it will pan out, but people love this pick because it's not Jones. Also, I think Josh Allen helped Daboll's career more than the other way around.

They needed a LB and an OL before their choices in the 3rd and 4th round. They finally picked the Guard from Purdue in the 6th Round. Now a TE from Nebraska in the 7th. One pick to go. So, I see one starter on the field in September. Not feeling it. Hopefully, Carter is that good.

Alexander will play plenty next to Dex if not start. Alexander is disruptive. Look at his tape he even has a pick 6 as a DT and the ball didn't pop up to him. And he has blocked FGs. Carter will be used like Parsons. I hear you about Dart and section 112 about Skattabeo. Skattabeo will be the short yardage back and spell Tracey. You have to try and develop a QB and Devito is not the one. Mbow provides some depth along the OL. No reaches and all on all a good draft.

Alexander played for Toledo. No idea how his skills will translate to the next level. None of the guys he played against are future pros.

It amazes me year after year how the Giants don’t value the LB position. There were a bunch of good ones this year.
