Well, neo-cons aren’t people who try to raid the Capitol or undermine an election.
I am not in favor of Cheney’s position on many issues. But when it comes to the undermining of this country she stood up with very few Republicans knowing that it would cost her seat. That is integrity. That is something the Republican Party had with during the Nixon watergate years with Barry Goldwater. To me it’s a baseline that always here but due to Trump that baseline is in the gutter.

I don't accept your premise Tom.
Like a lot of people, you are convinced that Trump is a compulsive liar and bad for the country. Like a lot of people, I am not a fan of Trump the personality, but support his agenda and oppose the way that he has been unfairly and in some cases unlawfully attacked ever since he declared for the presidency in 2015. I simply cannot get past the overreaches by his political opponents and the unprecedented effort to destroy him by any means. You cannot turn a blind eye to all of that in an assessment of the man and consider the success he had while in office despite the overwhelming harrassment by his political opponents and the main stream media puppets that he faced the whole time.
When I see the lies, deceit, and unlawful activities of the opposition party that began with the 2016 election and are carried forward in the current administration with awful policies and daily lies and compare that to what is bad about Trump...... there is no contest, in my opinion. I will overlook Trump's shortcomings every day and twice on Sunday when compared with the alternative and what is happening in America today.
My preference would be for someone like Ron DeSantis to be the Republican standard bearer. DeSantis would implement and support the same policies as a Trump, but IMO would serve to be a more unifying figure.
I definitely am thinking about what is good for America. I wonder if Merrick Garland was thinking about what is good for America with the latest attempt to destroy Trump when he ordered the raid on Mar a Lago while our President hid in South Carolina...... Or was he thinking about his party???

And so many Americans act as if those really bad people are now good for trying to get rid of someone bad for America.

For those here who think Trump can do no wrong & criticize the Attorney General for raiding trumps residence I'd like to know if it ever occurred to you that Trump may in fact be guilty of these charges as well as some of the others being brought against him. Does guilt or innocence even matter to you or is the mentality of support our political party no matter what? This seems odd to me especially since the GOP has always declared itself to be the party of law and order.

The criticisms of Manchin were that he was just a hard no on Biden's agenda for a period of time.
I have no issue with him holding things up for a negotiation but he had just walked away from talks last year. Not that he has to give in but he needs to be able to find something that he will agree to, and we did eventually get there with the IRA.
The criticism against Cheney was that she didn't bend the knee… nothing to do with policy.
I think one can view it that Manchin didn't bend the knee for all things Biden. Unfortunately politics is a team sport now and both sides criticize those who don't do what's in the best interest of the team.
What you don’t understand is that Liz Chaney has no expectation of winning. Her running is to torment Trump during the debates and have an answer to Trump’s cult following. If she runs as an independent, her goal is to peel off enough independent and real Republican votes away from Trump.
And please don’t equate Manchin and Cheney’s positions within their parties. There is no comparison. Your board brush comparisons do not work.
