I took a full day away from the board so that I could process yesterday's game.

Here are my thoughts....

1) We were up by 9+ for 80% of the game. Anyone who says that Willard was outcoached, must have watched a different game then me. Save for 2 stretches where RU made runs, we were the better team.

2) The refs kept RU in the game. Not only was RU allowed to grab and hold defense, they got away with numerous push offs on the offensive glass. We were called for some very ticky tack fouls. Desi was in foul trouble and changed the way he played. The FT attempt advantage was gross. Worst ref'd game against us in a long time.

3) I did think we settled for too many long range 3's at times in the first half, which prevented us from pushing to lead to the high teens. I can live with Powell launching.

4) Down the stretch, I thought we missed a lot of shots that should have been made. We threw passes that you would not normally see us make. I thought the Sr's didn't answer the bell flat out in that final 6 mins. Rutgers made some really tough shots and did answer the bell, give them credit. I didn't see many plays drawn up on the RU side, it was their guards making tough shots with hands in their faces off the dribble.

5) Ish was awesome. I forgot how good a healthy Ish is. He really changes the way we play defense as a team.

6) The greatest RU Basketball moment in the last 30 years was beating a Seton Hall team in December, think about that. We are at the point where the State U of NJ, who has way more alum and students, who gets all kind of money from the state to build new facilities, felt the need to rush the court after beating us. That was the one thing that made the loss feel better.

7) We will use this lose like we did with the URI loss to improve and get better. If that game is played anywhere but the RAC, it's a 20-30 point win. What a huge home court advantage the RAC is.
