SANTEE, CALIF. – Freshman Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) is 4-under-par through two rounds and has led the Seton Hall men’s golf team to a significant lead at the Carlton Oaks WIU Invitational with 18 holes remaining.
Nagai fired a career-best 3-under-par, 69, in round one, and followed it up with a 1-under-par, 71, in today’s second round. The Pirate newcomer currently leads all golfers by one stroke with a 4-under-par, 69-71-140. Just two strokes behind, in third place among the field of 41 golfers is teammate Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines). The junior currently is 2-under-par with a 72-70-142.
Collectively, The Hall has a 13-stroke lead over Cal State – San Marcos for the team title. The Pirates are just 6-over-par through two rounds with a 286-296-582. The field also includes fellow BIG EAST competitor Butler, which trails Seton Hall by 41 strokes entering Tuesday’s final round.
Freshman Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) is currently tied for 13th place at 8-over-par with a 75-77-152. One stroke behind Yeom is senior David Cha (Carrollton, Texas), who has an 9-over-par, 75-78-153.
Senior Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.) had an excellent 2-under-par first round, but struggled in round two, and is currently 10-over-par with a 70-84-154.
Competing as an individual, junior Kevin O’Brien (Wexford, Pa.) is currently tied for ninth place overall with a 6-over-par, 73-77-150.

Carlton Oaks is one of the top-rated golf courses in the San Diego area and has a long history of hosting numerous prestigious golf events including the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School in 2010, U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifiers and a Canadian Tour qualifier. The course has hosted the San Diego Junior Masters, bringing 400 players ages 8-18 from all over the world for a tune-up before the Callaway Junior World Championships in San Diego the following week. Carlton Oaks has also hosted the NCAA Western Region Finals and the NCAA Championship in 1974.
The Field:
The field will consist of seven teams. Including Seton Hall and host Western Illinois, participating schools include: Bradley, Butler, Cal State – Dominguez Hills, Cal State – San Marcos and San Diego.
Tee Times:
On Tuesday, the golfers will play 18 final holes with a start time yet to be determined. Pairings will be based on the team standings after two rounds.
