NC State

Wonder what would have happened had they won yesterday. They played their hearts out and had Kumar Rocker on an off day for him but just left too many men on base. A key hit or 2 and they would’ve been in the finals. Would they have canceled the finals had NC State won yesterday?

Comparisons to the basketball championship events are irrelevant. That was March. This is almost July. If you weren't vaccinated by now, you let your teammates, your team, and your university down. No excuses.

Own it and STFU.
According to the timeline 4 players, all vaccinated, tested positive. I'm not really sure how that meets your point.

The vaccinated players were not tested until after there were already four positives from among the unvaccinated players.

Your statement might work except that four of the players who tested positive were vaccinated. What do we tell them.

Um, that they can and should feel free to hold their unvaccinated teammates accountable? The ones who foolishly and recklessly brought this into their lockerroom?

From my understanding all unvaccinated players were removed from being able to play. They tested negative and couldn't play. I'm all for shutting it down if they test positive, but the testing mostly came back negative.

The 4 players who were vaccinated and tested positive was later in the week. The article that was posted about the timeline breaks it down well. Earlier in the week there was a player who was symptomatic(seems on initial testing he was negative before the start of the game) but still played. They tested him the next day he was positive and his roommate also was positive. Unclear what their vaccination status. Two other players also tested positive the next day and they were unvaccinated. The final tests among players were 4 players who were vaccinated. This was an unfortunate situation for all.

They probably should have isolated the first player who was symptomatic immediately even though he was a neg before the game earlier in the week just as a precaution. It might not have made of difference in stopping the spread, but who knows. I will say if the whole team was vaccinated and they were all asymptomatic they would have never had the need for testing. The NCAA says if you were vaccinated after the initial tests to enter their "controlled environment" there was no need to re test if you were symptom free. In theory their chances of being able to make it to the championship would have better if they were all vaccinated, but they made their decisions and have to deal with the unfortunate consequences.

— At this point, the NCAA informed NC State that unvaccinated players would be removed from the game and only vaccinated players could play in the game. The NCAA gave NC State the option to either forfeit and try to play Saturday or play on with a limited roster. Avent and his team opted to play, though NC State sources say they proposed to the NCAA to play a doubleheader between the two teams on Saturday instead. That request was denied. At the start of the game, unvaccinated members of the Pack team were taken to the Marriott and tested. All of those unvaccinated members of the team were negative for COVID-19, including several prominent players on the roster. None of those players were able to return to the ballpark in time to enter the game.

The part I bolded is the part I question. If this was SHU basketball and we had guys who made the personal choice of being unvaccinated, tested negative, and were still told they couldn't play at the Final Four level, this board would go bananas.

I wouldn't be upset. Those players were still exposed and have no protection from COVID because they were not vaccinated. Therefore it made sense to keep them isolated because they still may turn up positive the following day. That is the decision those athletes/staff made and with that comes consequences. Regardless it is still a sad situation and I feel for their athletes.

We also wouldn't have to worry about that with SHU basketball because the players are vaccinated thanks to the campus requirement and now don't have to undergo the annoying/rigorous testing they had to endure for a year :) Go Pirates.

Do you feel all unvaccinated players from Vanderbilt should be unable to play tonight. Vanderbilt played NC State twice last week, once with NC State's full roster when symptons just started to appear. Clearly these teams were in contact with one another.

It is concerning for sure, but I would do contact tracing first and keep testing. In NC states case the NCAA needed to be more cautious because they are in the dugout together, sharing meals, staying in a hotel which pretty much exposes the entire team.

I don't think it makes sense to quarantine Vanderbilt immediately because it is not like in baseball that you spend a large amount of time next to your opponent breathing in their face and it is also outside so transmission to the other team is probably low.

Vanderbilt like SHU also will be requiring all students/staff to be vaccinated next year so it is possible that their team is already vaccinated and would not be subjected to the quarantine.

I wonder if Tim Corbin loses players next year because of that. There is a large number of SEC baseball players from the southern states which tend to have a let's wait and see more about this vaccine approach. Going to be interesting to see how these mandates impact athletes. I wouldn't doubt there are maybe 5 players in the top 100 in basketball who have no interest in getting the vaccine, will we be hearing that a player won't go to a major program because of that and would if it's a highly ranked player will a school try to sneak him in under the radar without getting the vaccine.

Although developing one's critical-thinking skills is the primary reason to enroll at a university, anyone who remains resistant to the vaccine at this point probably lacks the intellectual wherewithal to achieve any real movement toward that end.

Yes the percentage of the country who thought for themselves and didn't come up with the same answer as you are stupid. All of them. Any of them applying to college should be rejected, perfect SAT score or not for it is obvious they don't have the brain power to amount to anything. If any of them are athletes we don't want them.

I would never let my child take an experimental vaccine that is proving to have a higher risk to people between 15-25 than the virus itself. This whole scamdemic has to stop. Let's get back to life. What the NCAA did is inexcusable.

Forcing 20 yr old kids to take an experimental drug for a virus that poses virtually ZERO risk to them is beyond obsurd. The drug is more dangerous than the disease for them. FACT! My kids are in college and I will not have them take it. I won't take it. Government favor force anyone to take a vaccine that hasn't been approved by FDA. It's only approved for emergency use.

It's truly confounding that this position -- so intellectually sound that it's shared by approximately 1/2 of medical doctors in both Canada and the UK -- is somehow derided as anti-intellectual.

At the very least, even leaving aside its sound medical arguments, it poses extremely legitimate moral and legal questions concerning individual liberty and government intrusion into the most intimate aspects of a person (what he puts into his own body).

The fact that someone can so strongly and emotionally deride such a position as anti-intellectual is a sad commentary on just how disoriented and bizarre the whole vaccination narrative has become in our society.

It's not just that narrative, it's the entire narrative surrounding the virus. We've lived in a bizarre world since March of 2020 where facts and data do not matter to people who want to be hysterical and/or force their will on others. Groupthink on an astounding, global scale. You are cast aside if you actually look at the facts and come to your own conclusions.

im not on either side but thats definitely not a fact. the vaccines have a lower rate of serious effects then the virus does. thats an actual fact.

you are cast aside no matter what you think. much like you cast aside those that think the virus should be treated seriously

No doubt. With that narrative growing exceedingly more bizarre with every U-turn in the official virus narratives which were routinely derided in March 2020. Eg Wuhan lab events/Chinese government role, etc.

Is that a fact for all people or 15-25 year olds specifically
its a fact for all people.

the biggest concern of anaphlyaxis is true for any vaccine and still effects only 2 in 1 million. thats .0002%. and deaths are even lower.

deaths specifically due to covid is about .005% for that age group.

theyre both a non concern. but with a 60% chance the vaccine prevents transmission it allows those people to get it and prevent their loved ones from getting covid who may be at risk.

its a prefrence. but to spout that complete BS and then say its fact, when the stats recorded in public databases say the complete opposite, thats a cosmic level of absurdity. maybe look inward first.

I honestly don't see how you can say your info is fact or he say his info is fact. There clearly isn't enough data. In the last 10 days we're just finding out about heart issues in young people from the vaccines. Who knows what we find a month from now, 2 months from now, 3 months from now. The data is still young and we'll see where it leads. I'm pretty sure these things usually take 3 years to accumulate all the data. We shall see.

If you got the vaccine and believe it works, even though you can still get covid and pass it onto others as evidenced by the NC State players among others, then why do you care if anyone else got it? You’re protected, right?

Also, in the case of NC State, wouldn’t there be some additional privacy issues there if they held out all of the unvaccinated players (even though they tested negative)? Why does anyone need to know who was and who was not vaccinated? It’s nobody’s business!

Just shameful how this is being required of people at little to no risk.

Recently a donation solicitation came in the mail from Seton Hall. I immediately ripped it up and threw it out. No donations from me so long as this policy continues.

there is more than enough data. so youre wrong. but hey why dont you say anything to flonticello? cause his wrong opinion aligns with yours?

2 people total in icu for myocarditis. shocking i know. care to explore the acute and longterm effects of covid? nah you only want to look at it from one side.

but by all means, only jump at those making claims against your opinion. remain crickets for everything else.

again, universities require vaccinations for numerous things. it can easily be considered "somebodies" business. or at the very least debated.

Sadly, you can’t “explore the acute and long term effects of covid” because it’s only been around since March 2020 so we’ll have to wait a number of years before anything that can reasonably be considered “long term” is actually there to look at! While we wait though the panic peddlers in government can continue to beg us to become governmental lab rats and threaten to take our freedoms away if we don’t comply!
