Newest Pirate

247 sports had him ranked . #3 in Louisiana and 216 nationally
He was ranked 125 a year ago. If we signed him last year I'm sure we would be reading he's a guy with top 100 potential. The ranking has dropped, but hopefully that makes him hungry to prove people wrong.

Covid rankings have been all over the place but I will take a top 200 big considering we still have Grant here.
what is your take on analysis that hes a "traditional 5 with upside"?

sounds similar to ikes profile. however ike is 7'2" not 6'9". maybe that means he doesnt rely on height for rebounds, but rather boxes out

Does there always have to be a conection. Salesman cold call sometimes and so do the assts (I hope). If they see a kid they like and have no connections, I hope they walk up to them, introduce themselves and try to start something.

I didn't mean a historical connection, rather how he connected with Daniels in general. He was the lead recruiter and it's his first recruit as a Pirate coach. I think that's pretty meaningful, especially since there were some concerns voiced by posters as whether Copeland could recruit at this level.

Ike was not that description, Ike was a raw athlete with minimal skills outside of blocking shots.

Daniels is around 6’7-6’8 with a bangers body, moves well around the basket and like to dunk 80% of the time. Needs to get quicker and refine his body to become a legit BE center.

also if he is just a guy who can box out I will take him 7 days a week and twice on Sunday’s because Willard’s guys NEVER ducking box out !!!

I also still don’t understand your point but it’s fine we are all fans here ( I think).

He got the hand off from Grant who made the initial connection and was the lead recruiter up until a few months ago

traditional 5 is code for limited ball skills. dunk and block shots. as like ike, dunks 80% of the time.

i think yetna might be an undersized guy who boxes out. will be interesting to see

Traditional 5 is back to the basket player with hopefully a drop step( something Daniels has and Ike doesn’t) but don’t we need these types of players?

I still don’t get it , is boxing out a bad thing ?

Daniels and Ike are very different players from video I watched on YouTube of him.

I think traditional big meant he can play back to basket and block shots and can’t shoot from range.

I think Daniels is more in the Bishop mold of player (Marq transfer to unc).

Won’t be dominate blocking shots like Ike but can hold his own down there. Way better offensive game than Ike already.

A top 200 player that is a center that can be developed isn’t a bad thing. As long as he is patient and doesn’t transfer by the time he is able to play big minutes as an upperclassman.

Added quotes from Daniels about expanding game 3 pt shooting and dribble from being a traditional big

He's all-in on Daniels is a stiff. Based on some of his recent posts, he believes that players are fully formed coming out of high school and what we see is what we get.

Witness his recent criticism of Conway because the early reports were Long was ahead of him and we know that Long struggled last year.

Creighton ( not nearly as skilled as Bishop) but everything else is spot on

Lol no words put in your mouth it’s exactly what you typed.

yes you can play with your back tot he basket and dunk the basketball, it’s called a drop step or spin move or anything else to get in position. Have you ever watched basketball before ?

ok I am done here seems like I am wasting my time

You are the most miserable “fan” ever.
Glad I'm not alone in my thinking. If SHUSA won the Powerball, he/she would be complaining about paying the taxes.

Mamu was outside the Top 200, yet he has the best chance at success in the NBA of any Pirate currently active in the pros.

i never said rebounding is a bad thing. not once. i speculated he might be good at boxing out.

yea im a huge basketball fan. a guy dunks 80% of the time because he has no other offensive skills. like ike. gets points through putbacks, interior passes, and a few fouls. not because hes so good he beats his man 80% of the time with a drop step.

generally 200+ recruits are depth guys. which is all i said. mamus skill set is completely different than this guys and more geared towards nba.
