Men's selection committee typically puts very little stock in conference tourney games outside of holding places for potential bid thieves, primarily because games are being played up to and on selection Sunday at which point the bracket it pretty much set.

On the women's side, if my dates are right it looks like the selection show is on 3/16 and conference tournaments wrap up 3/10. I'm simply speculating that the time gap gives them the ability to fully consider those results, should they choose to. It means a semi-final could be an opportunity for a bubble team to meaningfully enhance it's resume, which isn't really the case on the men's side.

Women is basically a reverse of men. In women. the bigger conferences play earlier, and the lesser conferences play closer to selection Monday. I do not think when the final is played will have any impact on getting SHU in or not.

Got it, didn't realize the smaller conferences were still to play. Still though I'd think the timing of a BET semi-final here would make the result relevant to the bracket whereas on the men's side it would be too late to change anything short of getting the auto bid. Maybe I'm wrong.

So, we have to ve fair when evaluating the Women's Team this season. Truth they are close to being an NCAA team. In fairness they have rebounded from last season. The Program was drifting to the middle of The BigEast. This has been a turn around season. Good job by Tony and the staff. They are better than Villanova and SJU. They finished slightly ahead of Marquette although an argument can go either way. Not having Catalon for some important games hurt.

So far, they have come up short in games they needed to have. The Princeton, Creighton and Marquette home games could keep them out. If they win their first two BE games including Creighton,they will probably still be out. They really needed to schedule an OOC home game against a strong team where they had a reasonable chance to win. We shall see what happens.

I forget who I was listening to but they said that the men’s conference tournaments that wrap up on Saturday give the committee extra time to adjust as opposed to the Sunday tournaments, where the bracket is basically already set. So there likely is some truth to what OP is saying.

I thought they had a realistic chance until the Creighton away game. Did not pass the eye test and then not having Catalon for the Marquette home game i believe. Creighton has ruined a few seasons. Anyway, as you say they have a slight chance.
