NFL ratings decline - why?

Not as much water cooler talk about the MNF matchup as there once was.

Fifty years ago, people talked MNF at the watercooler because seeing an out of town team (Not on Sunday no less!) was a novelty. That novelty has long since worn off.
 
Players move from team to team and so we root for a jersey not the player.
If the Giants win, good. If they lose, oh well.
I and others have lost the passion for pro sports. The guys make too much money and don't care about anything except that.
Craig Biggio, 20 years with the same team. He cared about the fans- and they cared passionately about him. So rare.
 
I'm in same boast as you. I am almost out of all pro sports, but is this the way it is designed - to only care about the next generation of fans? In the 70's, I watched pro baseball and football with my father and I was a little kid. He would say that the talent was better when was young.

Regarding Biggio- the best. Went to SHU baseball game against Notre Dame where his son was playing for ND. He was so kind and approachable and even gave some tips to my son who plays ball without asking.
 
So athletes shouldn't be maximizing their earnings playing professional sports? Am I correct in assuming both of you want billionaire owners to get a bigger slice of the pie in professional sports?
