The National Invitation Tournament Board of Managers has announced new qualification procedures for the 2025 NIT, which include bids going to 16 “exempt” teams, as well as others that may qualify automatically as regular-season conference champions.

SEC and ACC have networks and relationships with ESPN.

Fox - launching its competitor to gut the NIT —has deals with BEAST and B10.

And you can be a mid major team, such as a Sam Houston State who goes 26-5 loses in the Conference USA tournament and not even get to host an NIT game. That's perfectly fine because we need a bottom tier SEC/ACC team to host.

It's not like we really care about the NIT or the new Fox tournament.

Oh wait, we do care because our Pirates won it and played phenomenal.

By this rule, we would not have received the exemption and been guaranteed a home game.

We were not #4 in the power rankings, first BE team left out.

We care about the Fox event bc it will pay players nil $. Nit does not pay, at least not yet.

I believe the NCAA owns the NIT, not ESPN.

ESPN owns broadcast rights currently, and probably has big say in NIT process.
