I think we can all agree he is 1 of the best bigs in the conference but why does he always dominate us and not other teams?? Besides the fact that Delgado isn't a good defender

I think a major part of the answer to the question is the last sentence of your post. Besides that, he's an experienced, savvy senior who hustles, understands positioning and the art of rebounding.

That basket he made in the second half catching it on the low block and moving across the lane was beautiful. Skilled, smart and crafty player. He's had 6 double-doubles this year including tonight so we're not the only team he dominates.

Ochefu has really developed in his time at Nova. I think he will be a good pro as his game has gotten better each year. We had no answer for him tonight and its hard to double him because Nova can shoot the ball so well. Him and Hart hurt us. But we hung in there and played hard and made our runs too.

He's very good, but Delgado rarely boxed out against him and did little offensively to make him work. Not impressed with the offensive development of our bigs. Watching Bentil he's got great moves around the basket and moves well without the ball. Guy shoots lights out from free throw line too. Jessie Govan looked pretty skilled the other night for Georgetown. Can shoot from the free throw line and hit the 3 too. Xavier bigs pretty skilled offensively too. Delgado's offense needs to advance if the team is expected to move up in the Big East.

Our front line needs to shoot better from the foul line or it will be tough to stay at in the top 5 or 6 of Big East.

Wouldn't mind seeing Desi and Veer on the court at the same time. Two decent free throw shooters.

Ochefu is stronger, taller, and calmer. He's a mature Senior. That's what you see.

He's been a rough match-up for us. He put up 19 & 16 at Prudential last year.

Exactly. You'd think we'd be able to throw something different at him this year..

Delgado was awful tonight.

The kid who usually thinks every rebound has his name on it, had very little interest in rebounding tonight.

I wouldnt say Angel was awful. I think he played hard. He struggled against a guy who is bigger, more physical, and more fundamentally sound. We haven't boxed out all year. I've been saying the same thing since Dartmouth and Wagner. Today it cost us. We have a team that is talented. We do not have the talent to beat great teams just on talent. There's a lot of positives over the last 2 weeks. Guys are doing things that make this team better. If we can add boxing out to the excellent D and the way we have been sharing the ball lately we can win more than 10 games in conference.

We we haven't "added" boxing out by now it's not gonna happen. Some guys just have low basketball iq

Delgado is definitely scared of that dude. I remember he did the same thing last year.

I'm sorry Ochefu is good but he should not be going around Delgado to the point where he can't keep his body in between him and the rim. Thats just terrible defense.

Don't understand the strategy to front him either. Why he can't force him off the block and just play physical man on man defense and force him to shoot over the top.

Angel needs to bulk up and play more physical. Ochefu T-bagged him all day in the paint. Although we have seen improvement in the big men, they need to focus on fundamentals such as boxing out they also have to play much more physical!

maybe we should bring in guest coach Eddie Jordan to teach some rebounding fundamentals... oh wait, Eddie don't do boxing out!

Huh? Singh is 1-5 from the free throw line.
I would love to know what Singh was even doing on the court last night. His outside shooting was nothing to write home about and when he did go inside for a rebound, more times than not the ball bounced off his body and out of bounds. We have a CORE 5 for a reason. We need to stick with them, at least until Singh matures, which isn't going to be this year.

uh, 2-2 from 3?

and your CORE 5 can't play 40 minutes each. might qualify for the most insane post of the young 2016...

idk didnt singh hit the early 3 to put us up and the late 3 to cut it to two? I dont mind him.

One thing that hurt Angel last night IMO is that Sanogo and Desi were pulled away from the basket on defense b/c Jenkins and Hart spent so much time on the perimeter. That left Angel on an island down low.

Singh allows us to spread the floor on offense. It did work at times last night. The FS1 cameras caught Wright in the team huddle telling his team to watch for Singh in the corner on the ball side.

And I remember at least one play where the defender did not collapse on Carrington because he was weary of Singh stationed on the outside which led to a driving layup for Carrington.

When he's hitting 3's and helping to create space like that it can offset some of the deficiencies elsewhere in his game. It's a gadget-type of thing for us right now. Singh is not out there more than Desi. Last night Desi played 20 minutes, Singh only 9 because we went with the 3-guard look more often.

That was a big basket, the game was close, and he just beat the shot clock. Had the ball on his hip while moving through the lane, I thought he travelled.

Absolutely correct. That's why there were so few doubles on Ochefu. Can't leave Hart and Jenkins alone. That plus Ochefu has really developed into an NBA level big man over his four years. Probably the most complete big man/post player in the BE this year.

Will be interesting to see what we try against him at home in two weeks. Also, Ochfu's development might do wonders for Nova in the tournament this year.

How about double team Ochefu? Their outside shooting was terrible. Live with it

how about play 3 bigs at once?

Wow, he was 2-3 from deep, we know he can shoot it from deep when he gets set but that is all to his game so far. Is pretty lost out there, notice he crashed into Whitehead several times last night when Whitehead was setting up the halfcourt offense.

So he deserves playing time to capitlaize on his shooting, can't just bring him cold and hope he hits a 3!!

I agree, he probably did. However, I rarely see that called.

They haven't shot the 3 well all season. But how about we box out first? We are tremendous on the glass - especially offensive - but we are bad at boxing out. That was a bigger issue than doubling Ochefu. We allowed them 18 offensive boards and a 43% clip.

We are just 238th in the country in allowing offensive rebounds. NG.

Have you seen how good of a passer Ochefu has become? He had two assists last night and 5 against Xavier. He is a very good passer and scorer. Doubling him invites another open Nova player. Have to decide if you want them shooting 2's or 3's. Doubling him from time to time helps and a few times Carrington and Gordon did just that (help D trying to steal the ball). But if you double him all game he will just find the open guy and Nova will kill you from 3pt-land. And you don't develop a game plan against Nova thinking they are going to shoot bad from 3 pt land. It won't last - they are a very good outside shooting team. Have to look at all sides of the equation.

Is Angel better as a sophomore than Ochefu was when he was a sophomore? I seem to remember Ochefu not really too good but he really improved. He should be a player Angel should look to as inspiration.

Two years ago Ochefu averaged six points and six rebounds. His FT were woeful (55%) and he had streaks of TOs. He has worked hard to develop his game and body. He is still developing.

We've got a guy in the midst of a major development process as well. Ish.

His defense the last two games has been average at best.

Henry had 15. Garrett made him look silly on switches.

Hart had 15. I think Jenkins had 11.

Is his ankle still bothering him or he just has tougher times against smaller players?

You and I are watching different games. Ish looked a step slow against DePaul (he was still good), but was excellent against Nova. Jenkins -- the guys he was primarily matched up with -- was 3 for 11 and clearly bothered by Ish's length. I'm not going to look it up, but I'll bet at least 2 of Jenkins' 3 makes were on broken plays. The fact that Josh Hart (one of the best players in the country) and Billy Garrett (one of the best guards in the conference) may have gotten a few points off him is indicative of nothing.

Josh Hart is one of the best players in the country???? He's the 3rd best player on his team. Knock it off

So I take it you're down on the team, mjs?
I have to say, I do admire the creativity of using the pretense of "Ochefu" to say (1) Delgado is bad defender; (2) Ish is not as good of a defender as everyone thinks; and (3) Willard can't figure out how to defend Villanova. He's making us work for his negative opinions.
