That NEVER happens to Seton Hall… lolzzzwasnt he "ours to lose"?
yikes
wasnt he "ours to lose"?
yikes
I don't know if he was ever "ours to lose" but I do think our previous staff valued him more than our current staff does.Maybe someone said it, but I never got the feeling he was ours to lose.
Like when?i think Sha will land one of these local guys at some point
On3 is the someone (and still is):Someone said BYU for him.
We said that with willard. How many ncaa appearences and still struggled to land major talentI think Sha is going to have to prove he can win in BE Before he starts landing these HR recruits. Success season this year and you should see some landing next recruiting cycle.
Agreed. So many moving parts at this point. We have a new coach albeit a guy who’s team went very far in The Tournament, the Inaugural season with the NIL and of course the challenges associated with a smaller school. We already know that kids that left the area are willing to return via the transfer route. I just feel that people want to see if Sha can continue the success and stability that Kevin brought to the table. I think everyone is fairly sure there will be success, but not 100 percent convinced.. Honestly, the games can’t get here soon enough.Until we can assess how many of our priority targets we were unable to sign because we were unable to compete under NIL , success on the court will not have the impact it once did. NIL and free agency have changed what recruits are looking for and how well we can compete for players both the HS and the Transfer pools of talent is yet to play itself out.
I hate to say it, but so far we’ve missed out on the biggest talent Year in NJ (2023) and now missing out on the biggest talent right in our backyard.
What exactly did you expect to change?I hate to say it, but so far we’ve missed out on the biggest talent Year in NJ (2023) and now missing out on the biggest talent right in our backyard.
Nothing has changed…..
That point has been the subject of discussion for a while on this board and one that I’ve raised in the past . Once the early signing period is over Sha and his staff should have enough input to assess whether their current high risk high reward strategy will work or do they need to come up with a new strategy that makes more sense for us.The two recent rules changes, NIL and free agency, have further and drastically affected the balance of power in college sports.
And not for the better.
Just by his answers it sounds like Arkansas.
We were cut months ago and a Syracuse booster promised him $1M in NIL so they snuck on last min.
Who are these 5 stars we went after lolWhile NIL is certainly a factor, I think perhaps another factor is Sha swinging for 5 stars when he should have been focusing on players like Ty-laur Johnson. Now, he has no one coming.
NIL is the ONLY major factor at this point.
Funny how no one is saying we are losing the recruiting battle over the lack of our practice facility being built at the moment.
big time recruiting has always been about money (illegal previously), and we have always been behind since we lost our major donors to being arrested for criminal activity.
now that it’s out in the open and collectives can be assigned directly to pay for play, Seton Hall will struggle mightily for top recruits. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a HS player or a transfer.
Maybe you get a player wanting to come back to NJ for his final year or two. But if the entire roster is a transfer turnover each year, winning at a smaller school with lack of upper class chemistry is very difficult to do.
