October Recruiting

Recruiting is tough at SHU based on the size of the campus, facilities (for now), location of the campus, dorms, and more than anything the NIL. With that said, I hope we can land a decent player and not a project/end of the bench player. Sha needs to strike while the iron is still hot from his NCAA run. If we have a few average to bad seasons, recruits will quickly forget how good of a coach Sha actually is.

On a side note: I went to Notre Dame for the UNLV game. What an unbelievable experience. On the jumbotron they played weekly updates/highlights of ND players in the NFL. I got goose bumps. I can only imagine what a recruit at the game would have felt. It would be really nice if we can get a couple players in the NBA and do something similar at our home games.

im dooming hard about this NIL situation. seems like the end of the line for shu.

I don’t know what all the gloom and doom is. Sha will realize quickly enough that he will have to go after the 3 and lower end 4 star recruit and retain and develop them for 4 years. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s been our recipe for years and it has been successful. Not to the level we wanted but maybe Sha’s abilities can help us get to the next level.
20-Powell 1st team
21- Mamu 1st team
22- Rhoden 1st team

St.Peter’s miracle run to the elite 8 brought it national recognition and its head coach, Sha, became a media “ darling “ . When Sha was hired in March to replace Kevin there was a heightened expectation that all the positive press he was receiving would translate into success on the recruiting trail which has not materialized. The reason for that is open to debate and there will be varied opinions on our recruiting efforts to date and why they have not borne fruit but high on any list has to be the financial benefits recruits can be offered under NIL that we can not match.
