You have an atmospheric river and now 4 raging wildfires but climate change is not a thing and it is just for each side to have typical political talking points

No one is disputing climate change but wild fires have been going on forever in that part of the country. It would help to have water available to put them out. Seems like that is fire safety 101 to have water available. Last 2 years in CA. Have been the wettest in years but hydrants are empty. Leadership is necessary. You have an atmospheric river and now 4 raging wildfires but climate change is not a thing and it is just for each side to have typical political talking points

I don’t dispute it but not sure anything we do will change the results. Humans are not ready to make the sacrifices that would be necessary. I yelled at a guy who was draining his oil on the street in Montclair couple of months ago. My wife and I witness someone throwing a bag of garbage out there window on Route 23 in Cedar Grove last week. Take a few trips around the world places like DR or India and any hope to save the planet would be gone.fyi people in this thread dispute it
the earth has gone from ice ages to warm periods long before humans were here.
As we speak you could go skating, we haven't seen cold like the last few days for awhile. By next week you could be skating everywhere, problem is I sold the skates last year on ebay. Out of our control, electric cars are not going to save anyone. 80% of the world's population is trying to get enough food to eat, never mind education on climate change. We live in a bubble and even our own bubble is not very good right now. You are right every winter was cold, I remember the river freezing over.I don't think anyone denies global warming. As kids we used to be able to skate on frozen lakes for most of the winter. Some people blame humans for causing it while others believe the earth has gone from ice ages to warm periods long before humans were here.
The fallacy of extreme climate alarmism is that you can control the climate hint you can’t as Dr.Robert Casey the Nobel award for science winner as chairman on UN climate change panel over 20 years ago.said it is a bit warmer but nothing we do can to change climate.
As many of you know the US has lowered emissions significantly over the last 20 years and it got warmer.
he also noted many experts on TV spreading climate change alarmism never built a weather model compared to the 150+ professional models he developed so all on this board who listen to the world will end in 12 year if we don’t take not defined drastic action spread by experts like AOC take it with a grain of salt.
Well, she kinda did say it….AOC was not suggesting the world ends in 12 years. She was discussing a report from the UN that said we need to cut net carbon emissions by 2030 to avoid more catastrophic consequences between 2050 and 2100. Full report is here. https://www.ipcc.ch/sr15/
Well, she kinda did say it….
“Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Monday said she thinks that there is an urgency needed in addressing man-made climate change, warning that it will “destroy the planet” in a dozen years if humans do not address the issue, no matter the cost.“

She said what she said. Do you have a source where she admitted to the gaffe?and I have discussed that several times on this board. She misspoke, but was clearly referring to the UN report that said we have 12 years to act.
If you want to make fun of politicians for gaffes, go for it.
We should be able to ignore the gaffes if we're having an honest discussion here though.
She said what she said. Do you have a source where she admitted to the gaffe?
So I guess we have six years now to “fix it”….lol
So I guess we have six years now to “fix it”….lol
So the UN got it wrong I guess.Based on the UN report, yes.
Instead of thinking about longer term sustainable solutions though, we are researching for which chemicals would be best to spray into the upper atmosphere to limit how much of the sun's rays hit the earth, and will probably start going that in another 20-30 years. should go well.
So the UN got it wrong I guess.
So their “estimate” is that the planet is f’d now by the second half of the century. If it was that dire where is the lack of action across the globe? Not sure you could say that. It's an estimate of a time to act by to impact a time between 2050 and 2100.
The only way to deal with it is either some new unknown radical technology or immediate significant clawback in consumption. Legislating against gas stoves is laughable political window dressing.I'd say their more right than wrong in that there will be a canoe tipping point date where no measures we do to limit our impact would matter and we will be relying on technology to fix it instead. You and I would likely be dead by then so who cares I guess, right?
