Per Zags SulaimonTo Commit To

Turdgeon is an unbelievable recruiter.

They lost Wells to the draft and replaced him that easily while getting a bunch of other good transfers who red shirted for them this season and the behemoth Diamond Stone.

Never thought they could slide into the Big 10 and dominate like this.

Turgeon is a very mediocre coach. Sulaimon's going to Maryland because it's a projected Top 5 team.
I think Maryland will win the Big Ten, but I don't see them winning it all next year.

Maryland won't be an elite program again until it has a Top 10 coach and gets the caliber of players it did 15-20 years ago. The Terps had enough to get a Top 3 seed and be an Elite Eight team last year, but instead they went out in the Round of 32 like an average team.

Had the talent to be an elite eight team? They were projected as the tenth best team in the Big Ten before the season started last year. They finished the regular season in the top ten of the country.

365 days ago Turgeon was on the hot seat and Maryland had missed four consecutive NCAATs -- and now they are arguably the #1 preseason team in the country. If that's a "very mediocre coach" then there can't be many "good" ones left.

Yes, he is a mediocre coach. I said he was an unbelievable RECRUITER

A mediocre coach that coached a team ranked 10th in the conference preseason to 10th in the country with one borderline top 20 recruiting class....

Also LOL at the Hoya poster coming in and liking the two pessimistic MD posts. Must suck to have your biggest local competition cleaning up on the recruiting trail.

Being picked 10th in the conference means very little. Preseason rankings are subjective and faulty because they rely on past results and recruiting coups without taking in important factors such as chemistry and development. Smotrich, Layman, and Trimble were all skilled. Wells, although undersized, was the best point forward in the country (then again, how many point forwards are there?).

You just seem really angry. I haven't looked at your profile, but I'm guessing you're from the Maryland board and over there you're hyping them up as title contenders with this Sulaimon pick-up.

Georgetown is more respected than Maryland in the hoops world even with all the down years the Hoyas have had. Whenever you see highlights of the old Big East on ESPN or CBS, they always work in the '84 and '96 Georgetown teams. Juan Dixon didn't make it in the NBA. He was too frail.
