Not sure how this guy can have a high approval rating. Just dropping this here.

Wait until the shit hits the fan when a slew of businesses fail and taxes are raised.

I would suspect that most of those who voted their approval of him either a) happily pay their exorbitant taxes or b) pay no taxes whatsoever.

We've more than covered the fact that we've had more deaths than most small countries from COVID, and the wholesale slaughter of those in long term care facilities. Other than that, yeah, he's doing a fine job.

There are sheep who live among us, as well as people who actually want big, oppressive government. It's disturbing.

This is why.

"Approve" would not be how I describe my feelings towards him right now, but he is getting credit for that map.

I am not a fan of Murphy, but felt he has done okay handling the virus so far, though do have some issues with his recent decisions.

One thing not getting enough news, is N.J. may borrow $10 billion without voter approval.

Criticisms are valid, but the reasons for his approval is that we have managed to stop the spread more effectively than any other state at this point.

That could change in the future, but that is where we are today.

Correct. NJ will be in complete shut down again in September.

I'm not within the S. Orange beltway or even in NJ, but I can't imagine how hard you hard you would be if your governors were in Florida or Texas.
On the other hand, you might give them high marks.

I'd absolutely trade Murphy for Abbott or DeSantis.

I am no fan of Murphy, but South Dakota has a population of just under 900,000, or about 10 times less than NJ, in a state about 10 times as big. It is a tad disingenuous to compare COVID response or budgets between the 2 just like I would never compare a budget or system in the US to a much less complicated country such as Denmark.

Management is management. One state has done a good job, another has not.

Another false equivalency from you. Really getting sick of it.

I'm not creating an equivalence. I am pointing out how ridiculous yours was.

In all seriousness, NJ had to deal with widespread infections and transmission was occurring here before we even had a test available. That did not happen in South Dakota.

Your comparison was 100% a false equivalence.

Thank you for making the case against a coordinated federal "response." This should be decided on a state by state basis because the situation is different in every state.

I wouldn't apply the same rules everywhere, that doesn't make much sense. Though, I would prefer some type of federal guidelines with basic rules & procedures to follow under certain criteria.

That is ridiculous.
Agree. Being in charge of the local CVS and being in charge of CVS headquarters are 2 different things. However she knew what she was getting into when she took on being governor of SD and Murphy knew what he was getting into when he took on being governor of NJ. The fact is you want to see results. Asking for a $10 billion loan that all of us taxpayers will bear the brunt of is not exactly great leadership. I truly believe it's not all his fault. NJ has had a debt problem for years and we can't stick to brilliant idea of cutting the amount of money the state spends. But he's not helping.

I agree, which is why I started saying I am no fan of Murphy. Thank you for a reasonable argument.

Yes, you have. You used to be center-left. Now you're way, way to the left.

Not sure how you get there. I don't think any of my opinions have changed much at all. Supported Buttigieg during the primary the entire time. He wasn't close to far left.

I'm basically George Bush on immigration. Mitt Romney on Helathcare.
I believe in more government intervention which necessary and less government intervention when not necessary which lands me left of center most of the time.

You are way to the left on the virus and Trump.

We just bring in more people that rely on handouts while the taxpayers get stiffed year after year. Covid may actually bring more taxpayers into the state with the flight from NYC

Left on a virus? Not sure how that’s a thing, but yes. I thought we needed to be vigilant to try and contain it and that we need a massive testing program to stop it and that the government should provide economic stability for the length of time that it impacts us. That was my opinion before any politicians weighed in and it hasn’t changed.

Left on Trump? Yes. He is the worst president in my lifetime and it’s not close. Embodiment of corruption.
