SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team (17-15-1, 4-4 BIG EAST) split a doubleheader with Georgetown (11-22, 4-4) to kick off a three-game conference set on Saturday afternoon. The split sets up a rubber match on Sunday, The Hall's third rubber game in as many BIG EAST series to begin conference play.

After a quiet offensive performance in a 6-1 setback in game one, The Hall exploded for five home runs to tie a program-record in a 10-2 run-rule victory in game two. Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) went deep twice as the Pirate bats backed a stellar performance in the circle from freshman hurler Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.).

Game 1 Notes – Georgetown 6, Seton Hall 1
  • Fischer got the start in the circle and matched zeroes with GU hurler Anna Brooks Pacha over the first three frames
  • The Hoyas didn't notch their first hit off Fischer until the fourth frame, but opened the scoring in the inning with three to jump out to a 3-0 lead
  • The Hall got one back in the bottom of the fifth when Sara Foster (Long Beach, Calif.) doubled home Noel Lent (Yaphank, N.Y.)
  • Georgetown tacked on three more in the top of the sixth while Brooks continued to stymie The Hall over the final two frames
  • GU finished with a 9-5 edge in hits and did not commit an error versus one for The Hall
  • Brooks finished a complete game effort for GU with nine strikeouts and three walks
  • Foster was the lone Pirate to record multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk
  • At the dish, Fischer went 1-for-2 and drew a walk
  • The RBI double for Foster marked The Hall's lone extra-base hit
Game 2 Notes – Seton Hall 10, Georgetown 2 (Six Innings)
  • The Hall wasted no time getting on track in game two, as Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) and Fischer went back-to-back with solo home runs in the bottom of the first
  • Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) added a solo shot of her own in the fifth to make it a 4-0 game
  • Camp was perfect over the first three innings and retired 15 of the first 16 she faced before GU scratched across a pair of runs to pull within two in the bottom of the sixth
  • In the bottom of the sixth The Hall exploded for six runs to end the contest via the run-rule
  • Fischer got the scoring started in the frame with a towering two-run shot over the foul pole in left, followed up by a solo shot from Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.)
  • Later in the frame Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) delivered a pinch-hit, two-run double before Valerie Suto (Mercerville, N.J.) ended the game a batter later with an RBI single
  • The Hall finished with an 11-3 edge in hits, including eight for extra bases and five long balls
  • Camp finished her 6.0 inning complete game outing allowing two runs on three hits, striking out eight and not walking a batter

  • Fischer notched the first multi-home run game of her career and second for a Pirate this season
  • The Hall also drew two walks, including two for Fischer to give her a team-high 32 on the year
  • Those 32 free passes have Fischer tied for the second-most in a season in SHU history, matching Laura Taylor's total in the 2005 campaign and four shy of Walkden's record 36 last season
  • The Hall recorded four doubles over two games – the Pirates entered the weekend first in the NCAA with 2.07 two-baggers per contest
  • Walkden's home run was her 10th of the season, the second time in the junior's career she has recorded double-digit home runs in a campaign
    • Taylor, the program's all-time home run leader, is the only other player in school history with multiple seasons of double-digit home runs
    • Walkden ran her career total to 38, moving within 21 of Taylor's record

CAMP IS PITCHER OF THE WEEK, FISCHER ON HONOR ROLL

NEW YORK – For the first time her career freshman hurler Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) of the Seton Hall softball team has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday (April 10). In addition, Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) picked up her second conference honor of the season with a spot on the weekly honor roll.

Camp is the second Pirate to earn Pitcher of the Week this season, joining Madison Strunk (Adkins, Texas) who picked up the laurel on March 20. Camp appeared in all three contests against Georgetown over the weekend, helping the Pirates take 2-of-3 by pitching to a 1.24 ERA over 11.1 innings. The rookie allowed nine hits and struck out 13 against two walks overall on the week, picking up a win over two starts.
