Pirates Secure First Ever Team Metropolitan Championship

Newark, N.J. – Senior Julia Smith (Pittsgrove, N.J.) and junior Honey Strosnider (Fairfield, Pa.) ran a 18:03.18 and 18:03.76 to cross the finish line in third and fourth to help the Seton Hall women's cross country team to their first team Metropolitan Championship Saturday morning.

Smith and Strosnider continued their streak of strong performances with Smith registering her fourth consecutive top five finish, while Strosnider registered her fifth consecutive.

While the pair were the only top ten finishers for the Pirates, sophomores Caitlin Fahy (Ringwood, N.J.) and Paige Quigley (Sacramento, Calif.) placed eleventh and twelfth overall with times of 18:32.74 and 18:35.47, respectfully.

Their placements made a major difference in securing the overall, the pair generated a twelve point difference Manhattan's third and fourth finishers. The Pirates secured win with 62 points, while Manhattan finished second with 83 points.

The Pirates will return Friday to compete in the ECAC Championship in Bronx, N.Y.
