SCOUTING RUTGERS
Rutgers is coming off a 12-20 season last year, which included a 5-13 mark in Big Ten play. The Scarlet Knights won their opening round game of the Big Ten Tournament against Northwestern, but saw their season come to an end against Illinois in round two. It was a solid season for Rutgers under new head coach Coquese Washington, who helped lead guard Kaylene Smikle to a Second Team All-Big Ten selection.

The Scarlet Knights return six big contributors from last season including, Smikle, Antonia Bates, Awa Sidibe, Erica Lafayette, Kassondra Brown and Chyna Cornwell. The group combined for 1,684 points and Smikle, Cornwell, Sidibe and Brown were the top four scorers during the 2022-23 campaign. Rutgers welcomed two transfers in the off-season in junior Destiny Adams from UNC and sophomore Mya Petticord from Texas A&M.

So far this season, the Scarlet Knights are off to a 2-1 start. They opened the season on Nov. 6 with a 56-51 home victory over Monmouth, followed by an 86-43 rout of Wagner on Thursday. Most recently, Rutgers lost to Auburn, 76-56, on Sunday. Wednesday's contest at Seton Hall will be their first road game of the year. Smikle leads the team with 14.7 points per contest.

UP NEXT
Seton Hall will next head to the turquoise waters of Nassau in The Bahamas for a pair of games at the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship. The Hall will face USC on Monday, Nov. 20, followed by East Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Both contests will be available for FloHoops subscribers.
