LAST GAME
Freshman Savannah Catalon (Burleson, Texas) scored a career-high 21 points and the Seton Hall women's basketball team cruised to an 86-62 victory over Xavier on Saturday in Walsh Gym.

The Hall set the tone early in a 26-12 first quarter and never looked back. The Pirates clobbered Xavier on the boards, 40-to-24 and shot 49.2 percent from the floor for the game. They were also a season-best 20-for-21 (.952) from the free-throw line.

Catalon turned in her best performance as a collegian, collecting 21 points, four rebounds and six assists, all career highs. She was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Three other Pirates also scored in double-figures. Micah Gray (Oklahoma City, Okla.) had 16 points on the strength of four made three-pointers. Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) had 12 points, three steals and two blocks, while Kae Satterfield (New York, N.Y.) tallied 10 points and seven rebounds.

Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Red Storm: St. John's leads, 49-39
2023-24 Meetings:
Seton Hall 74, St. John's 66 in OT (F) – January 22, 2024 (Walsh Gymnasium)

AGAINST ST. JOHN'S
Seton Hall and St. John's will resume their long rivalry on Tuesday. The Red Storm own a 49-39 all-time series lead, but the Pirates have won six of the last seven games, including the last four. Earlier this year, The Hall outlasted St. John's, 74-66, in overtime. The Hall is 13-26 all-time at Carnesecca Arena, but has won two of the last three meetings there.

FIRST MEETING THIS YEAR
Three Pirates scored at least 16 points and the Seton Hall women's basketball team outlasted St. John's, 74-66, in overtime before a raucous Walsh Gym crowd on January 22.

St. John's forced the extra session with a late run and a game-tying three-pointer with only 34 seconds left. In overtime, however, the Pirates upped their intensity and got a pair of three-point plays from Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) and Micah Gray (Oklahoma City, Okla.) before a massive three-pointer by Sha'Lynn Hagans (Manassas, Va.) to pull away from the Red Storm.

Baines started slow, but finished with team-highs of 17 points and 13 rebounds. Both Gray and Kae Satterfield (New York, N.Y.) had 16 points, while Hagans had a season-high 10 points off the bench.

Senior Amari Wright (Jacksonville, Fla.) had another strong game at the point with six points and game-highs of 10 assists and four steals.

SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
St. John's was picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST this season according to the preseason coaches' poll. Unique Drake was an All-BIG EAST Preseason Honorable Mention.

The Red Storm enter Tuesday's matchup with a 14-11 overall record and an 8-5 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. After falling in overtime to Seton Hall on Jan. 22, St. John's won three in a row, but has dropped their last two contests. The Red Storm are coming off a 64-59 loss at Butler on Friday. Drake leads the team and ranks third in the BIG EAST in scoring with 18.7 points per game. Jillian Archer is logging 11.6 and a team-best 7.4 rebounds per contest.

UP NEXT
Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday, February 17 when it returns to historic Walsh Gymnasium to host BIG EAST rival DePaul. Tip time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET. The contest will be streamed by the BIG EAST Digital Network and available for FloHoops subscribers with Matt Ambrose and Phil Stern on the call.
