PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Seton Hall softball team (20-18-1, 5-7 BIG EAST) kicks off the stretch run of BIG EAST conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Providence (15-22, 3-9 BIG EAST). The Pirates and Friars will play a doubleheader at Glay Softball Field on Saturday at 12 p.m. before the series finale on Sunday, also at 12 p.m.

The Pirates are currently sitting sixth in the BIG EAST standings, half a game behind fifth-place Butler and one game out of the top-four. The Hall is coming off a 6-0 victory at Central Connecticut State on Tuesday behind a dominant performance in the circle from Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.). Providence also had a strong midweek effort, winning at Harvard on Tuesday before sweeping a home doubleheader against Bryant on Wednesday.

PIRATE POINTS
  • The Hall ranks in the top-half of the BIG EAST in both batting average (.293, 3rd) and ERA (4.13, 4th) while leading the conference in doubles, home runs, slugging percentage and stolen bases
  • Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) is near the top of the leaderboard in every major offensive category, pacing the league with 14 doubles, 11 home runs, 36 runs scored and 92 total bases to go along with a .361/.490/.773 slash line

  • In conference play, the freshman is 2-2 with a 2.77 ERA and a 27:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio

Following the series at PC, the Pirates will play their fifth-straight game in New England and wrap up their non-league slate on Wednesday, April 26 at Fairfield.
