I hate Rick but maybe that will get some folks going at SHU to field $ a better team next year. Classless statement by Pitino but probably some truth there.
Well the other side is Sha’s playing the hand he was dealt like crap too this year.
Nil and transfer bs was going to kill seton hall basketball. That was obvious and it is here already. We got very bad quickly. Should have better coaching too but talent is bad.
1. If you think he is texting anyone you’re crazy
2. If you don’t think multiple d-1 teams text Coleman daily you’re crazy
3. If you think we are not texting kids you’re crazy (we just can’t pay them)
4. He could care less about us at all..he likes sha and is a coaches coach and has a platform to present an inside view to take heat off of the coach

Boys he is right. But why are they in a different position? Because the Vitamin Water guy opened his checkbook wide. We don’t have that. Creighton has it. Nova has it. UConn has it. Now if we could get 1000 alums to give $5k each year we’d be in business. So who’s in for that?
He didn't belittle us. What he did was say something nice about another head coach, and one who I'm sure he likes and who he has a relationship with because of Willard (not to mention Davis, who got his start in basketball via Pitino). He publicly said something to support Sha, whether it's true or not.
Exactly. He knows people pay attention when he speaks, and so he was supporting Sha in a public way.
And not only is he not texting Coleman, but no one on his staff is after the last few games. Coleman didn't exactly inspire confidence with his play tonight.

What? Yeah the first part was generous towards Shaheen. The rest was a complete insult to SHU. And at this point the 2nd part of his quote is all that matters and he knows recruits will see it.

Recruits are going to know who has what by way of NIL. As will their advisors, parents, agents, etc. It's all speculation for us, but those involved in the process know the situation for the school's they are dealing with and schools generally. He didn't have to say anything. The sole reason he did was because he knows Sha is miserable right now and he's trying to support a young coach he likes and has a relationship with. As another poster said, like him or not, he's a coaches coach and from a generation where BE coaches tried to kill each other on the court and in recruiting battles and then supported each other off the court and against everybody else.
The program lost it coach and then it’s best players in each of the past 3 offseasons. The school sat on their hands doubting NIL while other programs were preparing. Here we are.

I see it as an advertisement to recruits that seton hall is broke. Don’t waste your time with them.
You said it’s speculation. How big of a speculation can it be when an opposing coach who is new to the conference can make a statement like that?

We don't have a D-3 level roster. We have some talented kids that haven't worked out (and may not ever), and others where the staff clearly misjudged the talent.

I posted a while ago that when SHU becomes the butt of DePaul level jokes, the Admin will wake up. Well were there. Let’s see what happens over the next six months.
I appreciated his comments, the motivations behind them aside. It was the honest truth.
I even see some Johnnies fans a little taken aback. Some of their fans are funny. I think some of them actually deluded themselves into Kadary left for St. John's because they are ST. JOHN'S, a historic program with a HoF coach and they play at THE GARDEN, and Seton Hall is none of those things, when in reality he left because of the money.

I truly don't think the real powers that be care about our athletic program or it's success and never have. The fact that money is now required only makes the situation more publicly visible and worse.
