You're right, moving him down a notchHow can Matta be considered doing a very good job?

That's not a 23 point drubbing.Seton Hall 45 Rutgers 43. At Rutgers.
Ergo, Sha > Pike
And frankly the game wasn't as close as the score. We outscored them by 10 over the last 10 or 12 minutes. That's not a 23 point drubbing.
83-61: nothing subjective about that.
You may not like Pike and Rutgers (I disdain rutgers), but they just beat Northwestern up in Illinois and are 4-2 in conference with wins also over Purdue, Indiana and Maryland.Pike has guys that have been playing together for years, and playing for him, there were high expectations for RU this season. Ranking the coaches based on expectation, Pike is performing where he should be.
Sha has 3 starters who never played together, and 5 starters who never played for him. Expectations for Seton Hall were so-so. Sha is performing where he should be.
That said, if Sha manages to make the NCAA tourney considering the above circumstances, injury to his true center, and lack of practice coming into the season, his season would be considered more of a success than Pike's.
Ranking coaches performances is tough when the circumstances as vastly different. I maintain that Anderson is doing the worst job based on preseason expectations.
So a one - game result early in the season is determinant of how good a coach is? (Especially for teams on the road)That's not a 23 point drubbing.

I watched some of that game. The same kid who hit the three to beat Purdue made one again. NW down 1, about 12 secs left, and guards turns it over (unforced). Very nice win for RU.You may not like Pike and Rutgers (I disdain rutgers), but they just beat Northwestern up in Illinois and are 4-2 in conference with wins also over Purdue, Indiana and Maryland.
To say that was expected is giving Rutgers a lot of credit. Sorry but I would not have put them at 4th in the Big 10 with on the road victories at this point in the season.
It also means you had low expectations for Holloway and that was not how I saw it at the start of the year.
Cam Spencer. Kid has ice in his veins. Pretty terrible last minute for Northwestern. Up 2 they basically play a possession to kill clock and get a forced jumper as shot clock expired, then they leave Spencer open for the 3, and they lose the game by dribbling the ball off their foot.I watched some of that game. But after watchng the two BE games, that game was a drag. Watched a lot of Seinfed on comedy central instead...the whopper...let Elaine eat cake...
But it seems that after the second Hall win over Creighton last year Willard WAS the better coach in that weekly exercise. That's the point, isn't it? No one is talking about a huge gap. I'd put McDermott #5 and Shaheen #6 based on the former's 21 point win over us in the one meeting. That's all.** and how can I forget last year when Willard beat McDermott twice including an absolute shellacking at the Prudential Center that was much worse than the 19 point difference at the end.
Was Willard better than McDermott last year? No way.
I’m ok with McDermott better than Sha. I’m completely not against that argument. But it seems that after the second Hall win over Creighton last year Willard WAS the better coach in that weekly exercise. That's the point, isn't it? Of the new coaches this year, he inherited the worst situation by far.I got a few years on me but Matta looks like he should go back into retirement.
Not sure that’s his fault. An unpleasant and strangely entitled group. Also seems like Anderson has never clicked with the SJU base
