Early bird deadline is this Sunday. I've had mine for about 10 years. Last season was so bad I hardly went. Who is renewing or not renewing?

I am 25+ year season ticket holder, have not renewed yet, but the other in my group has already.

I guess I will renew, not sure if will do now with early bird or wait until final renewal deadline.

My son enjoys going, so gives us something to do together. Games also allow me to see some friends. Been through some bad seasons, but last year was by far the worst.

In years past I would automatically renew my tix and I will renew again this year but going forward that will change. I want to see what the school and the AD do to dig us out of this deep hole we’re currently in. Status quo next year and I’ll likely bail which is a shame as I really enjoy going to the games.

35 year season ticket holder and I am not renewing. NIL is not enjoyable or interesting to me. The players are not Seton Hall but hired guns.
Sadly I have lost interest. If they were terrible but played for 4 years I would still be there. No connection to the players, love our coach but not enough to keep me going. If things change and guys start sticking around I will be back. For the immediate future reconnecting to the Knicks and enjoying every minute.

Can't even say that I have lost interest, but as SHallguy2 states, I feel no connection to the team. I will always be interested in SHU hoops. However, part of it is Shaheen's lack of communication with us fans/alum. We received Sha Wants You back email a few days ago prompting us to renew our season tickets, to which I replied, "f Coach Holloway wants me back, he should follow example set by every other NCAA Division 1 school, share information with your fans. Unfortunately, Shaheen has not done that and has even alienated the SHU Pirate fanbase."
I have not renewed, but fear that I might before the future deadline!

If you're on the fence about renewing, I'd encourage you to do it. If you're really considering cancelling, trying asking yourself if downgrading to cheaper ones is something you can make work. Every ticket sold helps the program. First, of course, is the direct ticket revenue. Beyond that, every butt in a seat makes the building look better - both in person and on TV. A better looking building helps the perception of the program. Even if you don't attend every game, every ticket out the door helps the paid attendance number - the bigger that number, the more attractive the program looks to potential sponsors - the more likely they are to close and the more money they command. Consider the value of the games you don't attend to be a donation, and perhaps try to give them away or resell them.

And to the people who really hate the concept of simply donating to players' salaries, buying tickets is your answer. You're now supporting the program (and these players) by purchasing the product they're providing rather than simply donating with no return. You're getting an asset (tickets) in return for your money instead of just a thank you. Now you can attend some, gift some, resell some. Reselling a handful of games, even at a loss, probably recoups as much or more money as the tax deduction on your donation.

And for the people who already donate to Pirate Blue and NIL, this is by no means a suggestion to stop - that's still a very important piece of reaching the program's goals. I'm saying for the people who aren't comfortable donating, buying tickets - even if you can't use them all - is a great and in some ways better way to support SHU Athletics.

Perhaps our biggest asset is that we play in an 18,000 seat arena - that's enough ticket inventory to build a financially self-sustaining program if we can eventually fill it. It won't happen overnight and the first step is just getting back to filling the lower bowl but keeping your seats, even if it means downgrading to cheaper ones, is a step towards getting there.

Apologies for the long post but I feel strongly that growing season ticket sales, even moreso than growing donations, is the key to the future of this program.

I have given up my season tickets but still donate to NIL. Not sure if that makes sense. I need to feel that the players are members of the Seton Hall community. I understand those of you who still want to support this. It is hard to give up on a love.

Vote with your wallet, anyone who renews is brain dead. Lets see some real changes from our inept leadership and staff. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom

I had season tickets for close to 10 years and never considered not renewing previously.

My issue this year is my ticket package cost increased about 10% vs last year (this is before the 3% increase if not renewed by Sunday).

This increase is pretty significant considering last year’s performance and inability to resell tickets to games I was unable to attend. Unfortunately this is swaying me not to renew. It sounds like many others are thinking the same.

You got off cheap. My per seat surcharge more than doubled and as a result my ticket package increased nearly 40%.

By the way, if you renewed before the deadline last year, your tickets went up 3% this year since the post-early renewal price was the baseline for this year's ticket prices.

The is a real honest assessment CernJSHU. You go with your heart. I commend you

I didn't renew, yet. The slight ticket increase is one thing the surcharge is up 240%. This isn't the deadline for renewal, but early with the increase starting tomorrow. As one of the dedicated season holders who have renewed for decades, I'm not sure how the school thinks this was the season to add these increases. I'll bet they lose 25-40% if they continue this. I can save a ton of money and buy tickets to the games I want to go. I'm not 100% not renewing, but if I do, it will be the last season if the team is anything close to what they were last season. Fordham , Monmouth and Ok State were painful to watch.

Because this is the season they can point to revenue sharing as the justification.

It was explained in the newsletter. With revenue sharing coming into effect in July we need to increase our NIL budget. A lot of schools are doing the same through an increase in ticket sales as well as concessions. No one wants a repeat of next year but bottom line is we need more money to compete.

While we all rightly bitch about the general lack of marketing and community outreach or connection to fans of this department given Sha's Iron Curtain approach, at least do something unique for season ticket holders. I mean, Good Lord, you're asking them to absorb higher prices off one of the worst seasons in our history without any prospects for improvement or even open forums that other schools do with theirs to explain, show the vision, etc.

What a weird place.

Maybe I’m wrong, but if we had a Repole and navigated NIL as well as St John’s I think all the fans that are not renewing strictly because of NIL/portal would be begging the ticket office to take their money and counting down the days until the beefsteak.

I’m not saying they would like NIL/portal rules but they would be more willing to tolerate it. The straw that broke the camel’s back here is 7 wins and no hope for the future, not that there are 10 new players on the team each year.

💯

For example, if we were playing at the level Willard had us at it or even Sha’s first two seasons and relevant, a reason to go, it would be different, IMO. That’s not to same some are put off and philosophically opposed to P4P, they are.

It’s tough to renew my seats to watch mid major players compete in a power conference again

Torn really wanted to see a different approach this offseason and we have nothing to show for it from fundraising to engagement to roster construction etc

Unsure

IMO this nil/portal era is just as fun as it has always been for the “haves”. It only screws over the “have nots”.

I would bet if you asked the average St John’s fan they would say this is the most enjoyable college basketball has been in the past 30 years.

I'm not re-upping. Had tix with my dad since '17, my 1L year. Not that I need to state my bonafides. Sha running it back with the smallest budget spread amongst a million mid major guys is recipe for another 2-18 season.

You HAD to pony up for 6 or 7 studs. Yes you're rolling the dice with injuries but at least you give yourself a chance to complete skill wise.

I'll keep this short and simple. Just because the money isn't "under the table" now, doesn't mean you can't get creative recruiting outside traditional NIL as we have always done. We hired Tiny Morton and it lead to the best run of seasons in the programs modern history.

When you consolidate the NIL payments amount 6-7 guys, give the other roster spots (with reg. scholarship & no NIL) to friends and family of recruits as sweetener, give them bullshit admin jobs at the school, whatever you have to do. Im talking players that would never sniff a big east roster. Free edu and can go to school with their brother/best friend. Sweet deal.

Or, continue to spread the smallest NIL budget in the conference among 12 mid major guys and get your face beat in by St. Johns yearly.

Your choice.

I can only speak to myself. But I did not renew after being a 35 year season ticket holder primarily because I hate this era of NIL. The players even if they were great players being rented for a year or two does nothing for me as a fan.

Sure the incompetent way SHU has has dealt with NIL has not helped. But the sport I loved is dead as a whole. Not only at SHU.

I rolled over and renewed. I am giving it one more year. The benefit for me is it keeps our grads for 1985 together. The games last year were awful and impossible to get anyone to use the tickets if I couldn't go. Things better change.
I love going and the program etc.. Can't believe we absolutely whiffed so hard in the off-season again though. I want to give it one more year !

Hey Joe Pep...in the 80sm, a friend had a bachelor party in the old Sportsmans Club, maybe the first sports Bar, was by the Holland Tunnel, as we were leaving, and my memory is foggy from basic old man's memory and cause of the 37 vodkas I had drunk at the party, but pretty sure one of my friends got into some words and maybe a push and a punch with the real Joe Pep. I think it started with a comment about his hair lol.

I am going again this year and as much as I didnt enjoy the games, I enjoyed the time with my friends.
