Pretty much sums up all we've been saying.

KenPom's SHU rankings:

30th in offensive rebounding
59th in FTA:FGA

273rd in A:FGM
233rd in offensive turnover percentage

289th in FT%
293rd in 3PA:FGA
220th in 3PT%

We're killing teams on our ability to drive, drive-and-dish, and drive and get to the line (but our FT percentage is a liability), plus our monstrous effort on the offensive glass. Really need to get more flow when the competition increases.

We see glimpses of good ball movement at times, so here's hoping.

Looks like a team that is a year away from breaking through -- excelling in areas you can't really teach (athleticism, aggressiveness, and hustle), and deficient in areas that improve with practice and experience (ball security and shooting). If only there were a place we could find an efficient, upperclass shooter or two to balance out this year's roster....

I think this is exactly what this season is about. We have good attributes and you can see them in how we play. Guys are athletic, have high motors, savviness, but it must be melded into the team concept. Can Willard and his staff do that? Can they keep the players engaged and working hard all season, especially when tough losses hit? If so, we'll have something here.

Average shooters become good shooters in a good concept. Lazy passes become accurate and purposeful. Ball-hogging bad shots are less frequent. Defense communicates and rotates timely. When the team hits a snag they're hungry to come out and do something about it.

If we can see that progress throughout the season - and it'll be obvious it if happens - we'll be much improved over last year's 6-12 disaster, we'll improve as the season goes on, and we'll buck a lot of the disappointing trends that have characterized this program under Willard.

And perhaps finally get this program going in the right direction with hope and optimism. We'll see. We're also 315th in KenPom's "Experience" statistic.
