Richmond

Don't forget you'll get your first look at the new uncomfortable Richmond vs our hated rival Rutgas. 630 Big ten network
At this rate I think our board is going to drive the ratings for that one, at least for those who have the Big Ten Network (I wouldn’t even know what channel it is).

I think some want players who dont have to be told to dive for a loose ball, to close out with your hands up. To play every second like you mean it.

KR has tons of talent, and I praised him here all the time. And I ignored those things (cause I am a fan not a journalist). I never worried if Isiah and Myles or Terry or Jerry or Sha or Dre was going to be all in for a game. I did with KR. Maybe KR took plays off cause so much was expected of him and he had to stay on the court. Maybe he used that as his justification.

He played well last year. Real well. It killed me that Carter won POY cause I think KR is more talented. But I understood.

What 75 said. The dominant KR was fun to watch, but MVP’s play all out all the time. If we’re being honest, that’s where KR fell short.

Should have been an NCAA team, but the general soreness stretch hurt too. And the no-show NIT Game One….

Richmond was our #1 option on offense and he played as many minutes as he could handle. I see his minutes and scoring #’s going down at SJU, but will still be a beast when driving to the basket.

The general soreness pissed me off to no end, without knowing the situation of course. The explanations that have come after the fact make much more sense and, frankly, I get it to a degree.

Again, I was more critical of this kid than virtually anyone on our 2 boards. And yet let's be real: we aren't half as good last year if Richmond doesn't elevate his game. We only "could" have been a NCAA team because of him. Yes, Davis and Dawes played huge roles too, and Bediako to a lesser extent, but Richmond was the biggest factor and the guy who made all league.

I’m not denigrating Richmond or his contributions and he had a great year overall. The team struggled without him; the team struggled without Davis; and the team struggled without Dawes.

Davis brought it every night on both ends. By far the most consistent of the big 3 1/2. Maximized his talent. Kooks less consistent and Sha was pretty transparent about that.

I wish they both stayed, but we don’t have this roster if they stayed. I’m okay with the change. They are young and may underperform or they might make the dance. It’s a Sha type roster, so I’ll bet on the latter.

richmond brought unnecessary baggage, and had some maddening moments. i dont think its addition by subtraction but i also think its a real argument. and could play out like that.

regardless the brilliant moments seemed to be negated by annoying moments.

And of course KR comes up big versus RU with a steal to seal the game. There were way, way more brilliant moments than annoying moments. We don’t win 15 games if he’s not here last year. And we finish near the bottom rather than near the top. There is no one on this roster that even comes close to KR. That being said, I’m looking forward to see what Sha can do with this group.

Obviously if he’s not on the roster the team would have been worse and near the bottom. I disagree as I would say the exact same for Dre. It was a team built on 3 1/2 starters that carried the load and was lucky to stay healthy. No one is arguing that he had dominant games; but he had a fair share of no shows; way more than Dre.

Kadary doesn't have to score on this st johns makeup...quite frankly he should have a close to 10 assist per game average

btw addition by subtraction means you compare the players that are now on the team because richmond isn't. really hard concept for you to understand.

he was good, but he wasn't special.

Thanks I don't need a lesson. What a curmudgeon you are. He was 100% special - you have sour grapes about every single thing related to the program.

if you take your nose out of his butt and realize he's not on our team, but on a rival team, you'd realize that i'm actually being pro SHU here.

I could never get invested in a player who took off games or minutes in a game at the rate he did. He had awesome unappreciated talent. He's gone and I care about it about as much as he did about playing here. Anyone remember that first NIT game performance? I'm hearing some great stuff from a number of people I trust about this current group, so that's all that matters. Go Pirates.

did you hear if any of them can shoot?

Just don't understand the vitriol. Without Richmond this team doesn't win 4 Big East games last year.

Not happy he went to SJU, but if he went there for the reported $1.1M how can you blame him?

Last night against Rutgers

25:37 Minutes
3-10 from the field
0-1 from the arc
3-6 from the line
9 Rebounds
9 points
6 assist
1 turnover
1 steal
+20 (game high for either team)

My only issue is that I believe he was negotiating to leave us during last season. To me you just don’t do this. I don’t hate Kadary, I am just disappointed in him.

In the NIT game against St Joe's KR had a bad game but he had a phenomenal defensive steal and save that basically won the game. I doubt no one even noticed.

That's his game in a nutshell. He does so many great things that don't show up on the stat sheet. I've always thought he was under appreciated & evidently so did he after the Creighton game.

Standard Kooks game. He has a huge block too. He contributes all over the floor. The biggest knock is the shooting and it’s a legit one but he’s a top talent. He grew A TON under Holloway, including fitness.

I watched the game. He didn’t play much in the 1st half due to foul trouble. The last 5 minutes or so, he was the best player on the court.

what is so funny? if we make the tournament will you be laughing? because we didn't make the tournament last year. richmond wasn't good enough to carry they team there. Dre Davis was probably more integral over the course of the entire season.

It's easy to understand.

There are a bunch of jilted lovers here, people who were all-in on the relationship and were stunned to see their partner wasn't. The partner left for a richer guy and now we have to find reasons why we're better off without said partner.

It stings because we see the new couple around town all the time and are constantly reminded we used to be together. If the partner moved to, say, Durham, NC it would be different.

It's hard to be better off without guys like Richmond. He's arguably the best player in the league.

IMHO, if we make the tournament this year and you see it as an indictment of Richmond, you have to look at Davis, Dawes, Bediako et al as well. If we're better off, it's because we're better off 1-13 (10) than we were last year.

I agree. To me, it’s ok for both to be true: Kadary was the driver for our success last year, and we can be a better team this year without him.

The Final Four team lost Mark Bryant and far exceeded anything a Mark Bryant-led Seton Hall ever did.

That in no way diminishes Mark Bryant's legacy at Seton Hall.

As you say, two things can be true.

Absolutely delusional. Davis had a good season because Richmond was his point guard.
