Happy New Year to all my good friends in the Booster Club and those that I know thru my association here thru the Rivals board! It saddens all of us who knew him, regarding the tragic passing of well loved Jim I., which dampens the normal good feeling that most have at this time of the year. Jim, you good Christian soul - may you rest in peace forever!

Some of you may remember that my company had the very good fortune back in August of having my wife Mary appear on a segment of the Home Shopping Channel (HSN) All the feedback that we have received from those you saw it, said that she came across wonderfully. For those who did not see the segment, you can access it in the below URL and you can judge for yourself:

We were pleased with our association with HSN, but we were at the same time very concerned with the very high mark-up they gave our products retail selling prices. (Close to 300% - Normal retail is about 70%). Because they would not work with us on the matter going forward, we cut ties with them on our own and are now doing our direct selling nationwide thru retail giant Amazon. With them, we are now selling our products for less than half the price on what HSN was offering them.

My goal is still very much the same - To make my company so successful as to being able to become a large contributor to the University in general and the basketball team in particular!

Thank you to all of you who purchased our products thru HSN, of which there were many - Please now take note of our newer, much lower prices thru Amazon! GO ROMARSI PESTO! GO PIRATES!

Anyone else completely turned off by this guy after that weird, gleeful praise of the horrific tax bill that got passed? Meh. Prolly not bc a lot of people here know you irl.

I disagreed with him very much, but I try to support SHU people when I can. $45 (with shipping) is a bit more than I would usually spend on pesto though to be honest.

Any thought on splitting it up to less than 6 containers at once?

Here’s a link btw. Amazon product ASIN B076QLDHM7

Lol @ The part about the main goal of having the company be so successful he can donate to the school. What a salesman haha. Although you’d think he provide his own link to the NOW LOWER PRICES. Idk if this shameless advertising is made worse by piggybacking off the death of a board member.

Either way I’m not the target audience for this but 45 bills for pesto seems pretty crazy haha idk if I’ve ever used that much pesto.

Why am I talking about pesto

Romarsi Pesto is awesome. I got a sample once at a Booster Club event. Have purchased it a few times sunce. I recommend wholeheartedly. As for the tax thing, if you live in New Jersey, you have bigger problems coming down the pike.

Hahah lmao. Did not see the infamous post but now I want to see the weird, gleeful praise of a tax bill.

I haven't tried the pesto yet. Sounds good.

I do not like new tax bill :), however, want a fellow Pirate to succeed. Good luck.

I don’t know, I threw a bunch of fresh basil in my food processor and with a few magic ingredients, pesto magic was made. Think there needs to be a Piratecrew promotional code.

A guy comes on here to promote a business he is trying to build and we see posters hating on him...very disappointing. Some people will just never get it. If it's something you're not interested in...just move along. Have some respect and remember...we all need help at some point with something.

Agreed. If you don't want to buy the product, don't buy it! That's the beauty of capitalism and supply/demand. But don't hate on an entrepreneur working hard to make a living doing something he loves. That is the American Dream.

Geez, I was just trying to help out Piratecrew with a discount code.

Its 29.99, Einstein, but if it was $10 you'd still be priced out of the market and have an asinine comment.

But a 75 year old former Weatherman now running a peanut farm, and his pushing-40 angry 3rd shift call screener counterpart liked your insight, so you have that going for you...which is nice.

I very much appreciate all of the above comments even those that seem negative. It is important to note that I have a close to a forty year sales and sale management career primarily with AT&T since my graduation from the SHU business school. I would not have lasted that long doing what I love doing, by letting those type of comments upset me.

Something to think about - A QUESTION - What is the only thing worse than not making a sale ? ANSWER - Not asking for it in the first place!

I am very much a goal oriented individual - I have found that in order to reach them, it is very important to write them down and publicly state them, so I strongly stand by my stated goal in my initial post in this thread. To some my goal may seem outlandish but to me it is rather a long shot that could indeed be reachable. Not sure you are aware but the St. John's alumnus who started VITAMIN WATER, like me started his business in his own kitchen. He hit on a new beverage concept and it took off nationally. Like my business, his business is not a brick & mortar business, so that in order to grow, new locations need to be constantly opened. His business, like my business is a distribution business, where in order to grow rapidly, you just need the ability to produce more to meet demand at your manufacturing facility. Something that my affiliation with my excellent co-packer provides me. So if a St. John's alumnus can do it - Then why can't I do the same!

Regarding the ordering options of my products, they are all available in packages of two units. The six package unit price is obviously the best deal and with a one year plus freezer shelf life, there is no worry about the product going bad. Even with the shipping cost being added, this package's unit price is about $7.50 per container. A good deal as my product retails for $8.99 in Whole Foods.

I got a nice surprise this morning when I checked my e-mail and saw four new orders, which is my highest amount of orders that I have received in one day since I started with Amazon last month. I am assuming these orders were directly related to my above post. So thank you very much for those of you that did place the order - It is very much appreciated! GO ROMARSI PESTO! GO PIRATES!

Pesto, good luck to you. I love making my own pesto. But, just ordered some of yours. Just promise when you get to be like the Vitamin Water Guy, that you support Seton Hall just as much. Lol.

Fast forward a year and piratecrew consists entirely of fathers trying to sell Girl Scout cookies lol.

i was going by what the previous poster said. Its still a giant double standard with this board if he wasn’t a booster member he’d be put in the ground for posting something so off topic and self gaining. I want him to succeed but the posting off of condolences for a fallen member and saying this is all a scheme to make SHU b-ball better is ridiculous... just tell us it’s an ad. I’d have no problem with that lol.

And are you trying to call me poor? Is this actually jimmy cryan?

The real Jimmy Cryan is saltier than that!

Give Pesto a break. I'm sure he was going to post a New Year's message, touting his product, and because of Jim Icklan's untimely passing, he made mention of it. I'm sure he wasn't playing on anyone's sympathies. Hardly seems an effective vehicle for selling pesto sauce.

That said, I bought one, to support the guy. We have Amazon Prime, but had to pay the $4.99 shipping, since this product wasn't, but it did ring up for $29.99.

You sure you didn't buy Pizza with Pesto and not the 6 pack of Pesto sauce?

Pesto = $39.99
Pizza = $29.99

Don't see the issue with Pesto promoting his product those supporting an alum. Seems like the same people that complain about the cost of pesto are the same ones that probably angst over the cost of the pretzels at the Rock:). (Full disclosure: I love pesto and we both make and buy it like it's crack).

Happy New Year!

It's non-binary. Probably both.

FWIW I believe I read that he has his product in the Clinton Shop-Rite, which I think is in your neck of the woods.

Some feedback:

Have a professional or skilled hobbyist photographer friend take product beauty shots and upload multiple photos to the Amazon listing.

Find out what's involved in offering prime shipping options and if you can swing it, do it. Prime delivery is the first filter I set when searching Amazon and if I find the type of thing I want, I buy it without ever seeing non-prime alternatives.

Add full ingredients list.

Run product description and all public-facing content through a copyeditor:

PACKAGE OF SIX PESTO CONTAINERS - Can be used as a wonderful, very fresh pasta sauce. It is nut free, gluten free and it's ingredients include only 100% pure olive oil. Also great on bread, crackers, broiled fish, grilled chicken, sandwiches, in mashed potatoes, in yogurt - The pestobilities are just endless!

Just reading this, it seems like Pesto man personally knows a lot of people on this board and is reaching out to them first and foremost, as well as everyone else as long as they are reading and share a SHU connection.

A few other people seem to be taking it more personal than they might have to. If you don’t like it, why not just leave it at that? A lot of cynical views directed at a sauce... And I’m a marinara guy, so I’m neutral on this!

It's not the cost specifically, It's about $1 an ounce with shipping from Amazon. I'm just not at a place where I want to buy 48 ounces of Pesto.
If I see it at Whole Foods I will pick up an 8 oz container though.

I plan on bathing in the aforementioned pesto.

I have not tried the product yet but I will be going to Whole Foods for the very first time to try it.

Go Pirate Pesto, Go Pirates, Live the Dream
